I had a wide ranging chat with my next door neighbour while I was out with the mower today cutting some of his grass while doing mine. He has a house in Florida and was relieved to find that it had survived intact. His daughter used to live and work in Mexico City until last year, but has moved on and now lives in the USA. She has friends still living in Mexico City and had been unable to contact them, so was extremely worried. The chances are they will be alright, but until she can make contact she is in limbo.

Good morning all from a warm and dry Weston-super-Mare! Rain promised for most of the day.

    Have a good day! <ok>

Afternoon all, a lovely day here, but I have been stuck inside trying to sort out my exact tax status. You get a letter from the UK that makes no sense whatsoever. I do not know why it is but whenever I get something official, and finally get to speak to someone on a helpline, they laugh and say they have heard it all before. Just who writes this rubbish. :emoticon-0138-think

Don't complain - at least they're in touch with you & speaking to you. For six years up until 2015, I could almost set my watch to the exact time when my tax coding notice would drop through the letterbox - mainly because I owed them and they were clawing it back. For the last two years I've heard nothing - because, I suspect, they owe me. Every time I tried to ring them, I couldn't get past the recorded message to speak to a human - the one that asks you to say what it is you're ringing about. I'd say my piece and the damned machine would ask me to repeat it two or three times, then tell me to go online & hang up. I've stopped bothering now. :(

It did take me three days and countless calls before I actually spoke to a person. It would either ring for 2 minutes then cut off, or give me an engaged tone straight away. If it served a purpose and was written in terms that made sense I would not get annoyed, but the form they wanted assumed correctly that I was in the French system, but then wanted details of a French passport that I do not have. Only write within the boxes, but French postcodes are a different format to the UK, and do not fit in the two boxes. It was a multi-country one size fits all form, but it failed totally to make sense unless you lived in the UK, and then they would not have needed to send it.

Had a day off today - just what I needed as between not sleeping much and it being a busy time coming up to quarter end, I'd almost worked myself to a standstill. Hopefully the nap I had before lunch today won't mean that I'll take a long time to get to sleep.

Morning all, another morning when I cannot see through the mist to the trees on the brow of the hill. Looks as if I have a busy day ahead of me, some of it to get ready for my visit to England. Have a good day whatever you have to do. <ok>

Morning all from a cloudy Jersey. No jerzeypie with me this weekend as he's on camp in his role as young leader of a Beaver Cubs colony.

Afternoon all. Been busy all morning, dashing here and there, up and down ladders, under sink investigating a possible leak, and now it is time to settle down for an afternoon of tension no doubt. Reckon I deserve a comfortable win. :emoticon-0100-smile
