I have often quoted myself by saying that although he was a good tennis player, Andy Murray would never win a slam as long as I have a hole up my arse? Well, ladies and gents, that hole disappeared in the early hours of this morning, with one of the greatest Grand Slam victories in Grand Slam history. It wasn't a purists game and the conditions at times made a farce of the 2 players but as the game wore on, some of the tennis served up was on another planet - from BOTH players. I sat up to the nerve tingling end and although I was bleary eyed and knackered all day at work, it was worth every minute of it. Well done Andy. A Grand Slam winner at last and I now reckon he can go on and win 3 or 4 others. PS - anyone got some ideas how to **** through a straw? Lol
With you Cest on this - never liked the dour twat but what a game of tennis, from both of them and it was fantastic that Murray held out to win.
He's still a bellend, happy he won for Britain's sake but it could have literally been pretty much anyone else other than him. Although he's won me over a little in the last year with the whole crying/singing the national anthem thing.
Was really pleased for him and don't get understand the hate and abuse he gets. So he doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeve, so what? It's clear he cares just as much as other players.
I think it's the England hating that gets people. I hate a lot of Scottish people, but then again I don't represent Great Britain, and if I did I certainly wouldn't be vocal about it.
I'd say he's pretty unlucky being around at the same time as Fereder, Nadal and Djokovic. Now that he's got the first one I'd expect to see another couple at least.
i'm pretty pleased for him; i actually quite like the guy, and think it took balls to come back from disappointment at wimbledon to beat federer there on grass only days later, and then stop djokovic on hard court, where the guy has been virtually untouchable for the past three years. as for his comments about england, did anyone catch his appearance on "league of their own" last night? aside from the weird timing (how is he in the sky studio with that fat prick corden AND playing tennis in new york?), i think it showed that he just has almost zero charm. he tried a few gags, tried to be laid back, and just comes across grumpy and awkward, which isn't his fault - he's a tennis player, not a stand up comedian.
I notice the Scots are all saying its a victory for Scotland and not England. Just remind me where the funding for his career development came from.... Oh yes... The LTA...
Well it's not a victory for England is it! Murray states that he is proud to be both Scottish and British, and as a person who is proud to be English and British, I don't have a problem with that. However, I've no doubt that certain Scottish Nationalists such as Salmond and Connery will highlight his Scottishness..
