Evertonian Alfie Hincks took blue bitterness to a new level, hes spent most of his wealth and his spare time trying to take the Liverbird away from Liverpool FC. Alfie Hincks, 47, asked a court to revoke a *decision giving the Reds exclusive use of the city landmark as a trade mark. He claims the iconic Liver Bird is a symbol for the whole city, not just one of its football clubs. Mr Hincks, who runs a maritime training company, said: âI was absolutely convinced that with the amount of evidence we had sent in and the amount of information they had we would persuade them it was a symbol of our city.â He was appealing a 2010 decision of the Trade Marks and Designs Registration Office of the European Union. But a judgement has now found in favour of the Anfield club once again. However Mr Hinks, from Fazakerley, vows to continue his fight by enlisting the help of the great-grandson of Carl Bartels â the German architect who designed the birds on the Royal Liver Building â in the hope they can prove the trade mark should belong to the family, not the football club. He added: âI was born and bred in this city and grew up with the Liver Bird and what it means to the people of the city.â The judgement states that Mr Hincks did not submit enough evidence for his request. The city still has the Liver birds Alfie, they're on top of the Liver Buildings and at various other places around the city.
The symbol of the district of Everton is Prince Rupert's castle which which is your club emblem, as you've never been called Liverpool FC why should you have the Liver bird?, we represent the city not a mere district(Walton).
please log in to view this image took our badge we Didnt want, took the stadium we Didnt want, it's sad how much you inspire to be us
Thats the turkey used by the Liverpool County FA. please log in to view this image You keep you're turkey and we'll keep our beautiful Liver bird.
This won't help your cause PMK but I don't think we should have exclusive rights to it. Its another example of just how far removed the club has become from the city it resides in. Sorry mate
Its not me lol honest!! Pains me to admit It but christ that bloke must be bitter....GGGRRR there I said It
Doesn't really bother me either I wonder what you'd replace it with though? probably Alcatraz, you like jumping in the bandwagon
As i said in the OP Billy there are Liver birds all over town and the city in shops and offices etc, but Alfie doesn't give a flying one about those companies using it, his bone of contention is stopping LFC from using it. As far as i know we only copyrighted our versions of it, so people are free to use turkey's like Shogun's.
If you knew your history, you'd know that the Liver bird was originally blue. However irrespective of that fact it's the symbol of the City & your shower has **** all right to its copyright, so your "bitter" bs is as far away from the reality of it as you can get
In fairness he's not trying to take the Liver Bird from Liverpool Football Club. Why should we have exclusive rights to it as a club? What exactly have LFC done for the city in the last twenty years other than collude in the ripping apart of the community it's supposed to represent? Oh sorry I forgot...we dragged the players to Alder Hey again for Xmas Very noble of us
I think Alfie could have spent his hard earned on somthing a little more worthwhile than trying to nick a clubs badge lol WHY?????
No, he's rightly objecting to you lot copyrighting it which could mean you stopping all other uses of it soft arse
EFC are named after a district of Liverpool and LFC are named after the city of Liverpool, both badges reflect that don't they?
Now now Boots i know this issue is as serious to you as Alfie but a little civility would'nt go amiss.
