Delighted to see us finally splashing the cash after the frustrating summer. Now that it's obvious the new owners are really going for it I wonder if we will end up being happy that the acquisitions match the ambition come CoB tomorrow. We've heard tons of exciting rumours including Cole, Parker, Crouch, Wright-Phillips, Dann and Mechada but thus far we have Barton, Young and Traore with Ferdinand now seeming likely to be added also. As things stand it seems to me like we aimed high but got average without any of the real marquee options arriving. I might feel differently if we end up landing Wright-Phillips tomorrow but at end of play today I'm wondering if NW will have got enough quality in this once-in-a-generation opportunity to see a new team put together.
Fair comment mate but i don't think this will be a one off spending spree.I think there will be more funds to strengthen in January, and in the future.Trust me were gonna be a force to be reckoned with.U RRRRRRRS.
Isn't Barton a Marquee signing? I think it's pretty clear from all his interviews that Warnock isn't whingeing anymore!
Thought I would resurrect this thread seeing as we are now half way through the final day. It does seem to be panning out as I originally indicated with Barton, Young, Traore and Ferdinand on board but still no firm word on Wright-Phillips or Crouch, Parker and Dann gone elsewhere and Cole no longer on the agenda. Barton aside (very much a double edge sword) the biggest names do seem to be managing to allude us. Perhaps the image of a small club is holding things back here regardless of the available cash.
We're in for some massive names today. We have signed one of the best midfielders in the division, a 21yr old speedy full back who's been at Arsenal + Juve, another England Int full back, and plenty more in the pipeline. If worse comes to worse and we end up signing NOBODY today, we are still in far, far better position than we were a week ago! Happy times
True but one more CB please. If Hall and Gabbidon are our CB pairing for the next 4 months, it doesn't matter if we have ronaldo, messi and rooney up front. We're still fckd.
Agreed - without wishing to sound ungrateful to owners and manager, the CB positions do appear to be our Achillies heel.
oh come on guys, you know we're tracking at least 3 CB, why all the worry? And as for you QPAAAAAGH, I think you could find reason to moan if you'd just won the bloody euro millions.
