Yesterday was a fabulous result, kudos to the lads - brilliantly done and a special thanks to Deano for a match saving performance... Sure, it wasn't pretty - the table doesn't lie, we are not great at the moment but it was a performance where bodies were put on the line and the right result gained so I don't get the "we were awful" brigade. Wake up people, we are playing SURVIVAL FOOTBALL i.e. get there by any means. DM's main job will be to sort this out in the summer, to bring in a different breed of player, style of football etc - we've been through this a million times and its a topic for the future... MEANWHILE, tomorrow is the type of game I was talking about in the "Re-writing history" thread. Expectation has been raised (unexpectedly for some) so it is THIS game - where we play in front of a full house with improved hope - where we have to guard against the type of non-performance that we have seen over the years.. Its back in our hands again now so we MUST be the best we possibly can be and everyone has to turn up and put themselves on the line to make sure that yesterdays' sterling effort was not in vain.. Hopefully Coventry will be a bit deflated by the Peterborough result but even so, they are 7 games unbeaten now so we need to throw the kitchen sink at them and make the wheels on their bandwagon a bit looser... COME ON YOU REDS...!!!
I've said this on another thread, we are all in this together we need the players on the pitch to preform, we need the fans to sing and back the team till the final whistle, not boo or walk out if the result is not going our way. We need to let them know that we are behind them. Be loud and send Coventry fans home with a ringing sound in their ears and hopefully 4 points from survival. This is our chance to get behind them, let's have a day to remember
If ever there was a day to throw everything but the kitchen sink in to the fray, then this is it! Should we leave the pitch on monday having left anything in the tank then we would have failed and that is no longer an option. Watching the game on telly yesterday made me realise why we are in this mess and it's solely down to an extremely weak team that struggles in most areas of the game, except yesterday provided one of the best goalkeeping performances for many seasons. Without Deano coming up with many top class saves we may have left empty handed but the powers that be dictated otherwise and we move on to the next challenge - COVENTRY. The most important player on Monday will be the crowd and the support they put behind the team to enable us to put potential relegation a little bit further behind us. COYR + CROWD.
