Pundits are unanimous around the world that this has been the best games since 48.

Only London could pull off such a diverse and quirky Games. The greatest city on earth has staged the greatest ever Games.

    Well done London

A fusion of Bohemian Rhapsody and Imagine? Forget the gold medals and all the rest of it - we're ****. Incidentally - why the **** are scousers getting top billing here even when they're dead? I doubt the Proclaimers will be asked to do the 2014 Commonwealth games <please ask Roddy Frame to play smiley>.

Think I need to go to bed, never thought I'd ever agree with a Chelsea fan, but well said to the OP.

I have to think we might be overrating it slightly due to the whole being here thing, i do think it's been good but if you think about it what has set it apart from past olympics?

It has been brilliant as a sporting event, but the fact that said event is being held in Britain has absolutely no bearing.

I do think the same but the crowds have set it apart. The football crowds at Wembley for mens and womens matches have been unprecedented and there's never been an Olympiad where the morning sessions of the athletics have sold out. To be fair as well, they've been relatively objective and not too biased to the UK. I actually think, in terms of people power, the best may be yet to come. If we pack out the Paralympic venues that really is something to be proud of.

That is actually a good point in fairness, I hadn't really thought of that. To add to that the Marathons and road cycling were also packed oout on the streets <ok>

My brother took his little girls to both the triathlons. When the men's one finished he sent me a text saying "this is what it would be like if you supported a decent football team" <steam>
