Whatever happened to our dreams and beliefs? ie " AS IN THE WHO`s " "hope I die before we get old" OBVIOUSLY THEY NEVER SUPPORTED SUNDERLAND. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// PS. would not have changed a thing, ask any barcode this simple question. The next bit is we die,,,, then who the hell do we support. heaven11 or hells 11. **** thats easy Sunderland, Ive been in football hell for 53 years, eternity must be a piece of piss.
like the the song said " the best days of my life".............................WHOHYEAH. Wouldent, although in truth ,not able to swap them, but realy, class times with class people, I realy hope these folks Im talking about, are still alive with a good quality of life. in many ways, folk forfget where they came from. the people I grew up with, hippies, mods, rockers. are the backbone of uk. you may be bald , fat, or whatever...............BUT IM STILL PROUD OF YOU ALL,,,,,,,,,you paved the way, polticians have since screwed it up. but their pension pots will be full. I PREDICT A RIOT,,,,,a modern anthem.
Thrill of a life time getting high up in the Roker end first match of the season and the pitch looking like a bowling green. Seeing us beat Arsenal 7-2. Being there when there was 68000 for a league game, then again when there was only 13,000. Of such things football is made and men are better for it.
Bill you mentioned 1966.....were you at this one? 13th 1966 - Roker Park staged its first ever World Cup game; 30,956 spectators turned up to see Italy beat Chile 2-0.
Try relegation for the first time when you are only 12 years old. It still hurts now(BTW my first match was when I was 6 back in the fifties)
The best match at Roker in 1966 was Italy 0 Korea 1. Never seen such energy and commitment from a bunch of players in my life. Some of it was kamikaze but those Koreans went hell for leather the whole game.
Too young to see Sunderland win anything to old to foolishly believe they will! My era thus far has sucked, then again so many happy memories. I have tried to give up Sunderland due to frustration etc, I remember vowing never to go back when they gave the job to Butcher! Stayed away from the ground, but no matter where I was or what I was doing I was still checking results.....It's like the Catholic Church, once you sign up there is no way out the only worst you can ever hope for is to be a lapsed Sunderland supporter but yiou know you'll go back. So now I embrace it. Can't change who is in charge what' son the field but I'll give you my unending support!
