It's been an exciting week as far as being a QPR fan goes.
What with the takeover & speculation regarding new signings.
Some of the players we've been linked with are...;-
    Barton
    Cole,
    Parker,
    Bentley,
    Wright-Phillips
    Puncheon

Which is great, don't get me wrong...
I haven't felt this excited for years
But they are all midfielders / wingers.
I think were OK in this dept.
As we are with strikers and the goalkeeper/s.
It's the defence that worries me.

    So with this in mind.
Which great QPR defender from the past would you
    bring back into the team?

I know who my choice would be, but I will save it until later.
I'm really interested to see who you would choose.

I know we have had similar post before, and they usually focused on the Champagne players of yester year.
So here is an oppotunity to reminisce over the unsung greats who have adorned our back four in our halcyon days.

Alan McDonald, not blessed with speed or grace but his reading of the game was second to none.

Not blessed with the skill, poise, speed and anticipation of Paul Parker but an indefatigable Leader of Men;the best QPR captain I've ever seen.
There's no way The R's could have managed 13 straight consecutive seasons in the top flight without him.
Between 1983-1997 he made 476 appearances scoring 18 goals and won 52 Northern Irish caps.A QPR legend.
How'd he deal with Adel?..well he left his great mate David Bardsley tied up in the dressing room once.Mark Hughes would testify to Macca not being a shrinking violet;beware the hands on haunches thousand yard stare.

If you're going for unsung heroes then Clive Wilson has to be up there. Mr Reliable and weighed in with many vital goals from the penalty spot...

Probably only because he was playing around when I started watching, but I've always had fond memories of Danny Maddix...and a little later on, Gino Padula...

This is tough - Macca, Willo, Bardsley and Parker - then again Ian Dawes was a reliable left back - all players I lovd to watch. Big Dave Webb, Ian Gillard, Dave Clement.....will have to have a think about this.

Bardsley, Parker, Peacock(not the one that falls on his ar*e but the finished article) and Wilson. Also Maddix and Macca, though i'm not convinced Macca would be suited for todays game with it's greater pace and speed.
But if i have to choose one it would be Bardsley, one of my all time favourites and a position we are badly lacking in.

Iam Gillard & Dave Clement as full backs go this was the best pairing I have ever seen at LR, for me Dave clement was my favourite player for years, so underrated.

A real tradegy the way his life turn out.

I'd go with David Bardsley. What a fantastic, commited, consistant performer.

After that I'd go with Macca. Blue + White blood in that guys veins.
