It's here again! The mighty and much coveted Emirates Cup! http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/emirates-cup-returns-for-summer-2013
I like the rules rewarding attacking play...... Basically all four teams are playing Wengerball but with long range shots allowed.
Yeah I'm struggling with this. Having been in Copenhagen and getting caught up in the chaos they caused I'm surprised we decided to invite them. In 1994 when we were also in Copehangen the contrast couldn't have been greater, drinking with locals, being invited into bars by owners wanting to buy us drinks etc, there's no doubt in my mind all the problems were caused by Galatasaray fans. There are even Arsenal fans who were given life bans to Highbury despite acting only in self defence who have repeatedly appealed to the club but the club are not interested - and for the record no Arsenal fan was arrested, charged and convicted of any violent act that night. Galatasaray have proved time and time again what they're like, I have no interest in watchin them and I'm seriously disappointed in Arsenal for considering them worthy opponents for the Emirates Cup.
It's like missionary work in reverse. We are making the savages travel to the enlightened thus introducing them to civilisation.
It is designed as entertaiment and to create a good pre-season "training" game. We get teams like this to come and play, because they know they are going to get a chance to develop their team in the pre-season, and we get a good crowd, because they know they are going to watch a good free-flowing open game.
Exactly Toledo. Rewarding attacking play makes teams go for it, and there's usually quite a few goals. 2 games for 1 price each day is great for the fans, and the teams play all of their squad as players don't usually play both games. It's an all-round fun opportunity for those who don't usually get to games to go too
Will the team who finished fourth celebrate like they've won the World Cup. Seriously what are prices like for these friendlies? Will ordinary Arse' fans from "da hood" be able to afford tickets.
Ordinary Arsenal fans can always get tickets reasonably priced. Not necessarily for the big games, but junior gunners and games against the bottom half clubs are very reasonably priced for one off tickets. Season tickets are more expensive, but there are a few extras associated with season tickets at Arsenal than at some other clubs. It is rough on some of the old -time members who stuck with the club through the lean spells, but considering the new stadium and the enhanced status of the club, not forgetting that it is in London and we have to make ends meet without a oil tycoon, the price is not that outrageous. There are still people on the waiting list. I think a lot is made of the season ticket price quite frankly. The average ticket quite affordable, and there are other options. The Emirates Cup is very affordable.
Emirates Cup is very affordable and it's pretty cool you get to watch more than the one game. Who fancies the idea of a Not606 day out? Emirates Cup game and a few beers!!
A few of us have met up before And I can tell you that Cym is an even bigger **** in real life than he is on here
