If memory serves me correctly, the bottom 3 at Christmas consisted of us, Sheff Wednesday and Peterborough. Now what are the chances come the end of the season all 3 clubs might stay up? Sheff Wednesday are already up to 19, We have won 3 of our last 4 games and Peterborough with their new recruits from Man United are picking up points.

If I was a betting man I'd have to tip Wolves as the team most likely to go down. Its scary to think that there are 4 wins that seperate 10th and 24th.

With 15 games to go (16 for peterborough) its anyones guess who could go down. If we carry on our current form maybe we might finish a respectable mid table.

Andypandy - I'll talk football with you pal even if the others on here just want to play. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Wolves are by far the worse team I've seen at the CCS this season and Dean Saunders has a massive job on to keep them up. Being a fellow Welshman, it pains me to say it, but I don't think he's up to the task.

McCarthy is a different animal and will take Ipswich clear. The same could be said of SOD, but I don't think he's necessarily got the same tools in the box to work with as McCarthy has at Portman Road. He's got a bigger job on.

For me, and despite them holding us to a draw on the weekend, I think Huddersfield are vulnerable. They'll pick up points on that bog of a pitch they've got, but will lose games on a decent surface. Danns and Scannell have got pace but apart from some bruisers like Gerrard at the back, there's very little else in the side.

Peterborough are an enigma. They can get out of this no doubt, but they've been so inconsistent I wouldn't bet on it.

The 3 to go down? Huddersfield and Wolves on what I've seen, with one of the current bottom three.

Which one? If SOD gets his first away win on Saturday, it may well get you on a roll - even if not, he's got time.

That leaves Barnsley and Posh - I'll take Posh. Barnsley showed enough in beating Boro at their place on the weekend to scramble clear.

Defence-wise Sparkey I agree with your 'tools in the box' comparison, but we do have some reasonable firepower up our sleeves.
Those who know me on here will know I am a bit pessimistic and doubtful when it comes to Bristol City as I have had my expectations and hopes shot down more times than I can remember, but our 'mini-revival' has been without Albert (probably our most envied player) and selection restricted by other internationals and injuries.

It would not surprise me if Albert plays, the Cardiff fans will be begging Malky to buy him in the summer.

A couple of points on a good post Sparkey.
In my experience, ploughed field pitches work against the home team because the home players knowing how hard it is to play on, tend to become dispirited about home games. Blackpool's pitch also looks as if they've transferred Bloomfield Road to the beach so they also could get dragged down by it.

McCarthy had some very good results immediately he arrived, reminding me of how we at Bristol City did last season after McInnes arrived. But Ipswich have now just one win in last six so getting dragged back into the mix if they were ever out of it.

Wolves results are awful, but they took us apart 1-4 at Ashton Gate back in early December. And now only two wins in last eleven and none since 9th December. We still have to go there.

All in all, we just have to get some wins together quickly as two or three wins in a row would really haul us out of immediate danger. Whether the second on the bounce will be this coming Saturday, well we can but dream.

PS; Ipswich have possibly done their loans and incoming transfers during January. But I'm sure we will still be getting at least a couple of loans in soon to give us added impetus.

I'm not too sure that Bolton are out of trouble yet they seem to be playing with a lack of confidence although they did show some spirit at the weekend but that was a derby game and teams can often raise their games for those no matter how well or badly they are playing the rest of the time

I would have agreed with this up to last Saturday when they turned their game around and won it after trailing 0-1. I really do think they are too good to go down and Freedman will see them safe.

But that was a derby game and in those as we have so often observed anything can happen
