Suspicious substance found at Romsey conservative club..... https://news.sky.com/story/police-e...ice-after-suspicious-substance-found-11335018
Just passed a very enjoyable 30 minutes at the Vistabella Golf driving range. Only the second time this week, and in 18 months or so, that I have even swung a golf club. Nice knowing that I can still actually hit a ball, and had great fun using my lob wedge to aim at a net, 30m or so away. I actually hit the net more often than Austin and Long combined, have done this season, so well chuffed with me. The 23C temperature is pretty nice as well, as was the ice cold drink afterwards. Shame it has to end on Sunday.
Really sad. I still think now every time I hear that beep, the fun i could be having on supermarket sweep
That’s very sad, the poor mother will never get over that. I know how tricky the waves can be there, my son got caught by a big one when he was 5, and I got soaked pulling him out! The beach the other side (east) of the arch is much more sheltered and safer.
It's a bit like Chesil beach , if you don't know the place , Roll up your trousers , or in your shorts , go wandering out . Fine for the first 3 - 6 feet , then you are gone . It just drops off .
Just reading about the clean up operation ongoing in Salisbury after the Skripal poisoning....apparently only caustic cleaners work as the nerve agent does not deteriorate with time. Zizzis and a pub remain closed (amongst other places). I was wondering who compensates these businesses...most policies exclude 'acts of war' and no damage has been done. The Government is responsible in cases where they are considered to have failed in their duty....i.e. failed to protect from terrorist attacks. I would be interested to know what is happening here...or are those businesses having to go to the wall? Personally I would never go in either venue again....there may be many who will, but surely these places are permanently blighted.
Me - Hey Toby ( Cat ) . I'm just going for a walk . Toby - Go talk to the Dog , it might actually care !
Really sad. I survey that beach and wade out into the water, sometimes up to waist deep and there is a strong wave draw back trying to pull you out with it. If you're not bracing yourself and watching the waves, I can see how you could be caught out there. You're right, east of durdle door is calm and sheltered and the place to let young kids paddle, although that's where a big cliff fall happened back in 2014! Easy to forget the power of nature when the suns out and you're relaxing with your family.
Don't ever swim off East Head near West Wittering. I grew up near there. When the tide comes out of Chichester harbour the undertow is lethal.
