The good- Thought Joe allen came of age today, absolute class in midfield and run the show again . He is turning into the Jewel of the midfield and looked every inch the premiership player Danny graham scored again, so pleased for him ! thats 3 in 3 from DG also an assit for JA s goal , growing with every performance and gaining more understanding with the rest of the team. The Bad- hmm, Brenden rodgers cost us 3 pts today IMO , i thought his changes made us weaker and we lost control of the game as a result,Dyer did look knackered towards the end but for me Orlandi for Britton was not a good move, maybe leon was injured i dont know.Moras now needs to come in for monk , he almost cost us a penalty and looks vulnerable under pressure, gave 100% but we all know the situation in defence needs addressing ,hurry back caulker! The ugly- I could say the way Wolves play football but that would be wrong, they got a result playing to their strengths ,something that we knew was always going to happen at some point in the game. To sum up. It feels like a loss to me , i have to confess that i turned the TV off when they scored the first goal, i just had a feeling i knew what was coming ,we were getting deeper and deeper and the defence started flapping ,ive never dived out of a game early before but we all know what the swans are like dont we and i just couldnt watch the last 5mins today it was too much to take!! i had a Norweigen friend who called and said "congrats ,you gonna get 3 pts today " that was a t half time but i had to tell him that this is the Swans and such matters arre never so cut and dried !! A game we should never have lost, if the pressure is getting to the lads away from home now what will it be like when we face a relegation battle ? we have only known winning these last few years and fans and players are facing a different experience in the Prem league,ie not being odds on to get a result! We need to strengthen the team if we want to survive in the Prem , weather we will is another matter , IMO we are so close to being mid table in this league and there is no team that has totally blown us away as of yet , its frustrating to see that we are just 1 or 2 players away from being very good ,looks like its is going to be the roller coaster we all thought it would be!! A point away from home is what 90% of jacks would have been happy with today(me included) so to post about the negative aspects of today may seem harsh to some. Its just that it could have been so much better with 3pts! ,the fractions between success and failier in this league are very small indeed we are all finding this out now and because the last few years have been so good to us im finding it hard to take !!
Pretty much how I see it Norway to be honest, but Rodgers Subs have left me furious, and £50 out of pocket!!.....MOTM Sinclair?? What a joke, who makes these decisions, as far as I'm concerned Joe Allen was streets ahead of Sinclair for this one, and what does Dyer have to do, to have a full 90 minute game?? and it's about time someone told Rodgers, that the game IS NOT OVER until the proverbial FAT LADY SINGS, and especially where Swansea are concerned, so please Rodgers leave our best players on the field, and if you feel the need to tinker, how about taking Sinclair off for once! Bloody managers get on my pip on times, he's cost me £50 when the second went in, had us down for 2-1 win....... please log in to view this image
Well i guess brenden gets it right more than he gets it wrong but i see no reason to change the team when we know wolves are going to have a right go at us!! dyer did look tired but im guessing thats because he never gets the chance to play 90mins anymore!! is it too much to ask the players to close out a 2-0 game though ?? irrelevent of what personel are on the field ??
So you were pleased when Wolves first goal went in? Well I thought Brendan's substitutions were top notch - I had £10,000 on a 2-2 draw
"We committed suicide" - Rodgers..................What he should have said was I DID!........................... please log in to view this image aswan nice try, shame about the game though!!!................... please log in to view this image
IMO we did not react to the way Wolves came at us in the 2nd half. They pressed further up and didn't give us time to play. Agree the cards were marked when Leon went off. Orlandi played 1 game for Barca, he is too weak, time to pack his bags me thinks. Does Routledge think he is 'God's gift'? Tie a rope around his neck and attach the other end to the touchline, better still get one Robbie Fowler to show him where 'the line is'. As for Moras - he looked a liability. Why did we play differently in the second half? Yes we had chances. Yes we missed chances. But we were lucky. Looks like we have a 75 minute team, and Brendan needs to find out who to take off (Not Dyer). In the next three games we have Bolton, Liverpool & Man Utd - we need at least 4 points - and we need them at full-time NOT half-time.
We are not going to get many chances a game this season. We have to make more of the chances we do get. We could have scored 4 or even more today, but we did`nt and it cost us. There are not going to be many times that we`re in the position we were in today, get the ball in the back of the net ffs. When we do get the lead, don`t sit back & let them destroy us, like today. Rant over for now .......................................... until Saturday ........................... perhaps!!!!! One thing for sure, Bolton are very much like Wolves, let the battle commence?
Good point JackSwan, I forgot we had Liverpool & Manure after Bolton. That means we`ll have to beat Bolton, cause the way we`re playing we`ll have little chance with the following two. My glass is half full and at the same time my glass is half empty.
We were starting to lose it in midfield before the Britton/Orlandi swap - of Gower / Allen / Britton, I think Leon was looking the more jaded. Something needed to be done to bolster midfield. Orlandi was not the answer; perhaps BR learnt a lesson on that one today. Jazz would have been a better choice - Jazz for Britton. or perhaps Jazz for Dyer would have been the better alternative to give us more up the middle of the park as Wolves subbed off their two wingers for central midfielders. However, we should have buried the game long before that point. This is not so much a game of screwed up subs but a lack of killer instinct from the 40th minute on. On a positive note, Rangel had a great game going forward today, his pass set Graham free for the second goal, and he was always buzzing in the final third. Allen of course, yet another great game. Mancini was in the crowd today; wonder why he was there.
I agree - Moras didn't exactly fill me with confidence and I would persevere with Monk next Saturday. The sooner that Caulker is back the better. In the New Year, we will also have Situ as an option.
We also miss Agustien.... he would have made a big difference yesterday in the last 20 minutes. Hopefully he will be back pretty soon.
Ditto. I've been saying for weeks that we're desperately missing Agustien, whilst Caulker needs to come back asap! I agree with your post NJ. I've posted elsewhere that for me the lost points come down to the Manager's awful substitutions and the players not seeing the game out. We did the same bloody thing at Wembley, thinking the game is won at half time. As Rodgers said, it was a 'learning game' for us. I hope he's learned as well as the players!
Not sure if it is fair to judge Moras on yesterday's chaos. He has payed World Cup finals against Messi and champions league against Barca and other top teams. He has a pedigree. Would prefer to see him start alongside Ash and then see what we have. It's a shame we are not still in the Caulder Cup that would have been the ideal starting point.
HTR- I thought rodgers might have known by now that our first 11 is our only true strength ! nobody on our bench rarely if ever makes us play better , maybe rodgers is trying to protect against injury to the likes of dyer and leon, its the only reason i can think for taking them off (though i did think nathen was tired ) i watched the replay of the game yesterday but this time from orlandi s sub onwards and though he was nice on the ball his poor powder puff tackling was in part a reason for their dominence , also poor tracking of players for the second goal, not sure who was supposed to be picking up ohare but they cost us dearly by not being switched on when it mattered. Moras obviously is going to need time (something we dont have) but it would be suicide if we play monk against Man utd and liverpool,so we need to get him up to speed ASAP. Jazz richards would have been a far better option i agree (for midfield) he has power and pace and plenty of skill, he could also grow into this team if given a fair crack .
was there a reason why gower went off as i thought this was surprising as we steady while he was sitting in the middle,
not sure beppe , there is obviously more that goes on than we fans know about RE subs ,i would like to see us keep our first 11 to later in a game if all things are going well . just thought the subs worked better for them than they did for us, of course we come back to a strength in depth issue again!!
i wouldnt say strength in depth on their part, they had to change it as they were getting mullored by our mini midfield trio, we do need to bring in someone (1 or 2) who is going to give us some extra cover in Jan tho along with Situ i feel (Danny Rose), Bodde may be back also (well we can all dream hey)!!!
to me we look under strength on the bench ,wolves wernt up to much but still came back from 2 down and i dont think we are going to meet a worse team than them this season away from home, so alot of frustration from me. we will need help if we are to stay up! Kemy and caulker to come back will help but i think the club will need players in january .
