With what was almost a mini meltdown on the match thread I'd like a positive take on last nights performance. It seems old habits die hard and the frustration of a Brendan Rodgers performance is still too fresh in our memory.

It will take time for the manager to get his ideas across, as fans we have to be patient and back the lads.

So what are the good points in last nights performance?

Pressing, when we get it right it is impressive and we force the opposition into panicking and we win the back high up the field. We don't always get it right at the moment but the signs are there.

Passing, sharp and quick is the idea, accuracy the problem right now but again this will improve.

The players, who seems to get it?

Sakho, always criticised for Rodgers idea of being brave on the ball which meant he put himself under pressure, with Klopp wanting the back moved quickly and accurately he fits perfectly. Kop hero in the making.

Lucas, pressing hard and harassing players both deep and high up the pitch, simple accurate balls keeping the move alive, he was superb in the 2nd half I only wish his shot had crept in.

Mingolet, being a keeper he can't really get involved in the philosophy but he is turning into a reliable keeper for us. He's settled in and may never be the great all round keeper some want but he's certainly earning his wage.

Can, the big lad is a leader on the pitch and potentially a future captain, hard working and determined, there's quality there but also much to learn. A very exciting prospect who will improve as the season goes on.

There will still be moments of frustration as Klopp looks to get his ideas across, as fans we need to make sure that we are not moaning little bitches with a Rodgers hangover and get back to backing the team through good and bad.

He strong, has a good first touch, holds the ball up well, has decent pace, no goal threat whatsoever. But that may click so worth a bit of patience I think.

not sure why Moreno doesn't demand to take corners, his crossing is dangerous - different with a dead ball corner admittedly but 90% of our corners are wasted so worth a go

You're being very generous with that <laugh> I'm not sure what happens to players when they put a red shirt on but it automatically makes them absolutely crap at taking corners.

The good stuff - better atmosphere last night, great to see us looking to attack immediately rather than 20 passes between defenders and midfielders. The whole team is working a lot harder than before too. Unfortunately the overall standard of football was just more of the same (as expected) but at least Klopp is pure entertainment on the touchline

We really need to improve our play on the flanks - we get into some good positions but Clyne, Milner and Lallana struggled to make that killer pass (on the right side). Bit better on the left however Coutinho was horrendous (Suppose it doesn't help with lack of targets in the box).

    lol sorry!

There seems to be improvement in some players - Lallana and can look better.

And Moreno and Sakho continue their good form. Sakho is now emerging as a fan favourite and clear leader.

Lallana has the technical tools to become a good player - he just needs to become more effective on the ball, and learn how to play the right pass and find the right option.

Hopefully Klopp can help develop that aspect of his game.

  16. He got a couple of corners late on and they were a lot better than anything Milner dragged up

  17. Don't know if you intended to do that but you basically separated Coutinho from the other three so you could make that excuse for him <laugh>

  18. His control, touch and ball retention was superb. His end product still needs improving but he was much better imo

    PS...what happened to everything positive?

    Things need to improve... But...

Here's the main difference between the last two games and the others this season.

The last two games the team has been trying and working hard and putting in some effort. For much of the game we were the better side last night.

How often could you say that earlier?

Still work to do...results need to improve. It wasn't results that got Rodgers fired it was that we were getting worse and having bad results.
