I'm not holding my breath -

but if I go into a bread shop and hand over the money for said loaf (£16), and it transpires that there is no bread, I would probably get my money back - yes ?

I'm sure you two are conspiring against me to kick me off into one of my rants about modern football. I purposely ignored grumpygit's thread but no alwaysright had to go and mention the £16 didn't he LOL

But whilst i'm here now...nice gesture, however, i am absolutely fuming how the cancellation of matches seems to be dependent on the quality of the official or rules that govern it and whether the match is on TV!!!!!!!!!!

    Luton ON - TV
    Stevenage - OFF

and yet Stevenage's pitch was in a condition ten times better.

Armchair fans bang on about goal line technology that costs thousand or even millions for the rare occasion there is a dispute over whether the ref got it right/wrong (stats/evidence showed in one particular Premier season, only one goal line call was wrong by the ref). Yet we can't get the basic's right for genuine supporters.

I think between the four of us guys we lost what £64?????...people may comment that is a risk you take...people may comment that didn't even travel...trust me this waste of money could have been adverted if someone had got their backside down the ground 30 minutes earlier.

I can't see any defence, I do not believe the quality of the ball bounce changed in 30 minutes. It was well known what time the coaches were setting off. Let me make it clear, I do NOT blame the organiser's, i blame the powers that be for not having any consideration for the travelling supporters.

Look how much rain Priestfield had for the Wolves game, yes they had to dig out the touchline but the game was kept on.

That morning when we left it had been raining ALL morning persistantly, the forecast was even worse for Stevenage...just look at Luton for evidence of that. This problem did not just suddenly occur at midday or 12.30 but was all dependent on one person's call....and where was he???????

As has already been pointed out on this site elsewhere, before refs turned professional, they had to be at a game that was at risk at least 4 hours before kick off...still like everything in the modern game...shut up, sit down, and just do as your told.

Excellent gesture by the Bournemouth fans.
And nice that its Burton fans on the receiving end. They seem like a top club and a top set of fans.
They were terrific for our Champions party last year as well I'm told.

    brb,
As someone who lost £32 on the 10 minute coach trip to nowhere I understand your angst, however, this was about the generosity of supporters rather than the incompetence of the officials who couldn't run a p up in a brewery.

They were very hospitable, went into a Pub after the game that was full of Home fans, instead of feeling an air of hostility they were all very welcoming and congratulated us on our season. Very nice club with nice fans, Burton themselves I would say were part of the good side of Football! Focusing on the article though, nice to see the football community helping each other out would like to think we would do the same but all credit to the Bournemouth fans for actually doing it and putting their hand in their pockets. How many games get called off a season at the last minute and this is the first time I have really heard something like this being done. Bournemouth fans deserve great respect.

I don't know what you mean ( as if )
I suppose you won't believe me if I say I was complaining about the price of a loaf of bread ?

My gripes, ( regardless of the fact that Stevenage's pitch being a damned sight better than Luton's) was
    1. That their groundsman must have realised the condition of the pitch the night before ( because there wasn't a LOT of rain on the morning ) -therefore should have alerted the referee.... who
    2. Should have suspected a problem - contacted the club the day before - or at very least contacted the club early on the day of the match for an update - and got his backside to the ground a lot earlier than 12.40pm.

I agree completely with your points alwaysright...you only have to look at the wording on the OFFICIAL SITE for the rearranged game which states towards why it was cancelled.

So where was the referee i wonder?
