So, how many of you guys and gals play this wonderful sport? And do you have an official handicap? Where do you play and have any of you guys entered into the Watford Golf Day with the players in the past?

Me? Well I've only been playing regularly for a couple of years and have a handicap of 24... which is not all that but it is a proper handicap I suppose! Room for improvement. I play mainly in Aylesbury but get around a bit. Have clubs, will travel. Bloomin' addictive it is.

No Mark Twain quotes please, it is the one subject he commented on that he really didn't know what he was talking about!

I own a set of specialy made clubs which were a gift from an uncle who owns his own golf shop in Hemel. I used to hit a few balls down the range now and again, but that stopped a few years ago now as i never have the time, however i would love to start again. Never got a handicap as i only ever played two 9 hole rounds.

I used to play quite a bit when I was at college - enough to have my own clubs - but was never a good standard. used to play on Prestwick Road (on the way to South Oxhey) or at Rickmansworth. going to Uni stopped all that, but have started up again, but only recently. Have been going to the driving range and have had a few 9-hole rounds. Unfortunately I've lost my swing, and was getting far better results pretending I was Happy Gilmore!

15 hadicapper me. Was 14 going down but gave up playing regularly for a year last year. Back playing as a member of Mapledurham Golf Club in Reading. Company I work for has corporate membership of Sandford Springs down in Kingsclere (reasonable course) and Celtic Manor (not bad at all!). The latter allowed me to play that course 3 weeks after the Ryder Cup last year.

As for its addictive nature? Too right! You can play garbage, as I have done often, and play just one shot which will stick in your head and get you coming back for more.

I'm hoping, now I'm back playing reasonably regularly, to get back to 14 and maybe lower by the end of the summer but it ain't easy.

I love a good round of golf, constantly frustrated as I suspect are most casual players at my own startling inconsistency! Never been a member anywhere so don't have an official handicap but i suspect it would be around 25.

I actually work at www.golfonline.co.uk customer services, I'm the guy who picks up phone calls :D

I haven't played much golf recently, only some pitch and putt.....but I was a member at Stanmore Golf Course for 2 years a few years back...got down to 23 handicap though I'd struggle to reach that now without practice.

We have the most north golf course in the world here, but I can never understand the way people are so in love with this game. For me there is nothing in golf.

I'm with you Ak and Norway. I've never seen the fascination, and i can't watch it on the tv either. Mr H, however, plays and watches and lives every shot, he loves it!

I love golf, been playing for more years than I care to mention let's just say platform shoes and flares were in first time round<laugh> I was a promising youngster, played off 16 at age 16 then joined up and discovered all things alocoholic and girls<laugh> Now play off a conservative 21 bit of a bandit really, should play more but don't. Must try harder to get on the local course and flog the ball to within an inch of it's life!

Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.

Somebody said this, though I can't remember who...

I didn't realise golf was such a devisive game! Personally, I find walking very boring without a stick to hit a ball with!
