****ing brilliant goal that. Think people on the match thread need to look again. Elmo or Chezzy werent to blame for their goals. Scruffy shot that was a freak that went straight to Remy's head. Chezz made a good block and it fell for him for the second. Scrappy play and two well taken goals. While ours were well worked.

Surely that will be up there for Goal of the Month?

Elmo and Chester were to blame because they both made mistakes to give Newcastle the opportunity, but the situations in which the goals occurred were unfortunate.

How were there any mistakes? For the first goal, it's a lucky loop from a crap shot which is just too high for Chezzy, and for the second he can do **** all after he blocks it. McGregor nearly saved it too, which was impressive considering he was still down from Cabaye's attempt.

Newcastle's defenders were much worse. Our second goal was a nightmare for them.

No one at fault for the second, for the first Elmo left his man down the wing completely unmarked in our box and was too late to make up for it. If I'm going to get really specific and petty, he would have ran facing the player and blocking him and the ball off from getting to our goal, instead of fruitlessly jumping for a ball he was never going to reach.

It's the first point that makes him at fault though, the second is just hindsight.

Elmo jumped underneath the ball in an attempt to clear it and Chester stretched to get his foot in the way of a shot that was going wide and deflected it straight to Remy. Two mistakes.

Lets put it this way, when they scored the second Chester was furious with himself, being the honest lad that he is, he knew if he hadn't have done what he did they would not have scored.

Anyone who takes any notice of what I post on here would surely know I think the sun shines out of Chezzies arse, but he's only human. Have to say, though, his second half display was imperious, and probably motivated by that mistake.

Elmo has now made 3 glaring mistakes in 3 separate games, each of which have cost us goals. His defensive abilities are lacking and I doubt he will change now given his age. But he is still rightfully a favourite because of the offensive capabilities which outweigh his downside.

Elmo jumped under the ball for the first - but they needed some luck after that too.

No blame for the second goal - when you're blocking a shot you don't have time to judge whether it's going wide or control where it will end up. What followed was a fine finish.

Tell you what Bradys goal had a fair bit of quality about it as well.

Three left footed passes (including his shot), ball moved at pace across the pitch, their defenders all over the place.

Brady finished very well, but I think his goal was well assisted by Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa just stands there and watches Brady. I would be very annoyed......no really pissed off if a city player was just that not bothered

I don't think the mistake for their first was Elmo necessarily jumping under the ball as such, more drifting inside getting so close to Chester he could probably reach out and touch him even though there was no one to mark, leaving our right flank, that side of the box and Cisse wide open with space and time, and not enough time for himself to get back over and cover, hence jumping underneath.

It was a positional error for the most part, but I think had he faced Cisse instead of jumping he would have put him off trying or blocked the shot/cross whichever it was supposed to be. But as I said had he been in the right position to start with he could have just simply headed it clear.

For the first goal I thought elmo was weak and Chezzy just got caught ball watching instead of watching his man.

For the second, I think it was Quinny tracking Remy and then he left him chasing the ball. Nobody picked Remy up. You can't leave him unmarked in the heart of the box.

Might seem harsh to criticise, but you've got to man up to your mistakes and learn from them.

Marking your man seems to be a skill professional footballers are getting progressively **** at.

I got slated for even daring to compare Aluko to Ben Arfa.. people like Erik were saying "some of our fans are ******s" to Newcastle supporters on this board.. now I feel vindicated..

Ben Arfa's marking was poor but our passing was perfect to make the most of it. Usually we bugger up one of those passes or at least miss the chance, those goals were all clinical in terms of the passing in the build-up and also the finishes.
