Interesting that Dan ****tuâs been given the chance to stay with QPR during pre-season and earn another contract. I must admit I didnât expect that to happen. ****tu and Pascal Chimbonda looked for all the world like short-term signings simply to get extra bodies in during the promotion run-in. Chimbonda left the club in a huff weeks before Rangersâ announcement that he was among eight players being released now their contracts have expired, but fair play to ****tu for keeping his foot in the door. One man who didnât survive the cull was Josh Parker, who until fairly recently was firmly in Neil Warnockâs plans. A number of clubs have been keeping tabs on Parker for some time â so the player wonât be short of options â but around a year ago, when there was some interest in signing him on loan, Warnock was adamant that he saw him as part of his first-team squad. He did eventually end up having a loan spell at Northampton, which he cut short after being told he was not being selected for a game against Oxford. When he was later loaned to Wycombe, he was still in Warnockâs thoughts; so much so the manager insisted on a recall option and would have called him back for Januaryâs FA Cup game against Blackburn had Parker not got injured. Those unproductive loan spells didnât help Parkerâs cause one bit, but I still think he can get a League One club â or at least a trial with one â if he knuckles down. The importance of a successful loan has been underlined by the fact that Max Ehmerâs time at Yeovil has seen him secure a one-year extension to his QPR contract. Much respect is due to Ehmer because heâs made his way despite some initial cynicism about him, given that he joined as a schoolboy when his father Val put money into QPR and was involved with people who were trying to take control of the club. You can therefore imagine some of the whispers about young Max â not least because another youngster, Jack Perry, who was later released, was also taken on by the club (as an actual pro) around that time, and his father too was financially involved behind the scenes. The decision to take on âthe Germanâs sonâ, as I once heard him angrily referred to, was one of many issues that caused a bitter dispute at board level during an infamously acrimonious period. But it has proved to the right decision. He can play. No doubt about it. Iâve liked the look of him both in midfield and when heâs switched to right-back. And Iâm not alone. During last yearâs pre-season games scouts from various clubs were asking me about him and were more than impressed. So good luck to the guy in the future. A good player worth keeping an eye out for. http://davidmcintyre.wordpress.com/2011/06/01/the-germans-son-proves-his-worth/
I think Dan ****tu was playing his last game when he come on against Leeds. I just wonder if Warnock has been told that he is only allowed so much for signings so he feels he needs to keep the likes of ****tu and Hulse and more.
I very much doubt we'll be spending much at all, if anything while negotiations are ongoing between Bernie and Mittal. Bernie certainly isn't going to be spending much of 'his' money while there is a chance that the club wont be his for much longer. Let's just hope that things can be sorted sooner rather than later otherwise our long awaited return to the Premiership might be a short term visit.
I can't believe what's happened since I saw an indifferent QPR edge out Torquay at Plainmoor on 16th July 2010.For me the one stand out and Man of The Match was Josh Parker.I hope he goes on to have a good career in the second or third tier.DMac fails to point out that giving Gerry Francis's son -currently injured as far as I know - another contract could be perceived by some - (chumps) - as questionable. TheLoneRanger - good to see your posts again - I very much would wish you are right in stating that there are ongoing negotiations between Bernie and Lakshmi but I have read, heard or seen nothing across NewsNow & QPR messageboards to state that this is definitely the case.
I signed up when the site started, but held out on 606 till the bitter end and I was the last Rangers fan to post on there. But I have been active on here now for a couple of weeks. Glad to be in our new online home. I am just speculating as I haven't seen much, although Dave Mac seemed to think last week was just the start of it, which seems to make sense. Mittal has fallen in love with the club, much helped by the chanting of his name at the final game. Can you really see him not pushing to buy the club? I doubt he's going to go anywhere near Ecclestones valuation of the club, but let's face it, he could afford to and not notice the dent in his bank balance. I think it's just a question of when and not if. I just hope that happens before too much damage goes on at the club.
