Matt Gill and Garry Kenneth also got game time, with Matt Harrold expected to play in a reserve match next week. John said: “Ryan Brunt scored in the game in midweek and he got an hour. Matt Gill got an hour, and Garry Kenneth got a full game in to add to his hour last week, so there is light at the end of that injury tunnel. “Ryan Brunt is in contention to start this weekend, he is fit and well and if everything stays that way he has got a good shout. He was pivotal last year in terms of how we played. “Matt Harrold should play part of a game next week to get him ready for the game against Northampton.” And for the first time this season the manager will have to give some thought to his starting line up. He said: “ It gives me extra experience on the bench and in the dressing room. We have young guys in there and they need a bit of help and support. “Even if the senior boys are not on the pitch they will support the rest of the group. “Probably for the first time I have a bit of thinking to do about my starting line up.” The manager is expecting a tight game on Saturday when York visit the Memorial Stadium. He said: “There are not too many goals between the two teams, but we are organised, and we will be together and try and get ourselves a win. “They will be tough opponents, as they were last year. It was a tight match last year and I expect the same this year. “At home we have to be as adventurous as we can and go forward and try and win the game. “The players are looking forward to the next game. We owe ourselves and the supporters a good result and we have to work hard to get that this weekend.” YORK EARLY BIRD save £2 on normal match day prices Fans are being reminded that they have until 5pm tomorrow to get their Early Bird tickets for Saturday's League Two fixture against York. Supporters can save £2 on normal match day prices by buying their tickets in advance. Tickets are still available from either of the clubs' two retail outlets - Pirate Leisure at the Memorial Stadium and the Supporters Club shop in Kingswood.
Right not bothering with the usual thread for home games as it seems everyone is at the game anyway so just use this thread as normal if people do happen to come on Saturday I will still do the full thread for away games. Myself I'm not sure about this game I think it will be either be a draw or a win we won't lose that I'm sure off assuming Brunt may get a start then we will just nick it 1-0 if not then another boring 0-0 will be the outcome. So lets just say 1-0 Gas Brunt the scorer
even though it aint the usual full on match thread as you usually do, to me its quality anyway and always grateful for your efforts and time to make the match threads
This game should be very tight. Therefore I'm going for 0-0. Having said that, we may just nick it! Seamge
Bristol Rovers striker Ryan Brunt is set to be named in the starting XI for the first time this season. Garry Kenneth was an unused substitute last week and could make his first appearance since January after recovering from a knee injury. York are likely to be without defender David McGurk (hamstring). Estonian midfielder Sander Puri remains sidelined by a hamstring injury so Nigel Worthington could name the same 11 that drew with Hartlepool last week. VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM Bristol Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol: "There is a little bit of light at the end of that injury tunnel, which is good news for me. "People will be looking at this game and thinking there's not many goals between the two teams. "It was a tight match last year and I'm expecting similar again." York City boss Nigel Worthington told BBC Radio York: "I'm not concerned about the lack of goals at the moment because we've got players who can score goals and players who can create them. "I thought the performance on Saturday was a strong one and we battled well. "I know John Ward very well and he's a well-respected man. Make no mistake whatever has happened to them this season is not down to the level of work or organisation."
Bluddy 'ell we just scraped by! Richards being unavailable may have been a blessing...I liked Brunt and Clarkson together. What a difference Brunt made. Lockyer impresses every time. JJ rubbish first half, much better second half. Gill won some headers AND won some tackles when he came on. Santos does look lightweight at times, then conjures up a bit of magic. Smith = Mr Effort/Reliable A win!

Manager on Rovers' first win of the season. John Ward was delighted to see his side pick up their first win of the season when they beat York City 3-2 at the Memorial Stadium this afternoon. Two goals from David Clarkson and a strike from John-Joe O’Toole was enough to give Rovers all three points in a game packed with incident. The manager confirmed that his side had been working on the attacking aspect of their game on the training ground this week. He said: “When you are 2-0 up against ten men you have to win, and then we are 2-2 with a strange penalty against us, and we showed a lot of strength to win the game. “The first goal was a great strike from Clarkson, and the second and third goals were really good team goals. “It is stuff we have been working on in the training ground to try and improve the forward part of our game which was lacking last Saturday, and it has come up trumps which is great.” The manager was also pleased with the way his team dug in to win the game. He said: “We had a penalty against us last week and we lost the game, but this week we came back strongly and we are learning. “We have a number of young boys out there learning quickly as they have been thrust to the front of the group, and I have to be delighted with that. “We have done well mentally and physically, and we have won the game, which is great.” And it was great to see Ryan Brunt back in the side. John said: “I am just pleased that we created better at the top, Ryan Brunt made a difference. “I was not sure Ryan would make 90 minutes, but it got to ten minutes to go and I thought we still needed someone to win headers in our box and I asked him and he seemed alright. “We stuck with him even though I think him and I would have preferred 75 minutes, but needs must.”
Yay! We got our first 3 points which is great and even more importantly I got 1 point for the attendance game! I'm on hols with a very weak 3G signal so won't be contributing much this week. Onwards and upwards Gasheads!
