Bristol Rovers Vs Chesterfield, Memorial Stadium. Bristol. Saturday 10th November 2012. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Chesterfield started the 2012/13 season with a 1-0 defeat away to AFC Wimbledon saw go on a nine game unbeaten run where they picked up a respectable 15pts from 21 scoring 15 and conceeding 11 this however was followed by a a downturn in October where only 6pts were taken from 21. On 25 October 2012, it was announced that Paul Cook was to become the new manager at Proact Stadium and would take over from Tommy Wright and Mark Crossley who were installed as caretaker managers to replace John Sheridan who had been sacked on August the 28th after seeing the club relagated and only picked up 2pts in the first four games. Paul was in the stands to see his new team lose 1-0 at home to an ever impproving Barnet, Cook's first game in charge came last weekend in the FA Cup where he saw The Spireites smash League 1 Hartlepool strugglers 6-1 back in the league they travelled to Valley Parade Tuesday night and went home with a 0-0 draw. The Overall record between the two clubs are as follows Only 32 matches have been played... Bristol Rovers Won 18, Chesterfield Won 6, Draws 8 Goals between the two... Bristol Rovers 43 Cheterfield 24 At Bristol Rovers a total of 17 games have played so far the Gas have won 13 of the matches with The Spireites only winning 1 there have been 3 draws. Away at Chesterfiled sees an even record of 5 wins each and 5 draws. Just in case your interested (which I expect your not) heres all the facts and stats from the games down the years. http://www.bristolrovers-mad.co.uk/head_to_head/next/vs/match/index.shtml The last meetings between the clubs came in the 1999/2000 season where Rovers picked up all 6pts from the two games 3-1 at the Memorial Stadium and 1-0 at Saltegate. So how will it go Saturday, Paul Cook seems to have breathed some fresh air into a stuttering Cheterfield team so can we get the ball rolling with a much needed victory? So what will score be and will the crowd number fall again. Gives us your outcome of the match score, scorers and attendance please
My prediction for this game was a Gas win but now seeing Chesterfield's last two results I'm going to change my mind and go for a 2-2 draw. Eaves and Broghammer to score with a gate around 4860
It'll probably be a draw to prolong the agony!! A win would bring relief and a loss surely (sadly) change. So a 0-0 draw it is!
Team News and Views From MM Oliver Norburn misses out through suspension following his red card in the 3-2 defeat by Southend on Tuesday. Tom Eaves and Matthew Lund sat out training on Thursday with slight knocks but are expected to be fit. Mark McGhee told BBC Radio Bristol: "They're a young bunch of players and they are resilient. There's no reason why we can't shrug off what happened on Tuesday. "We can go out there refreshed and find a new rationality of why we should go out and beat Chesterfield. "I've got to instil that in them. I've got to pick a team that gives them an opportunity to do that. "They need to be in the frame of mind of going out there and getting on with it."
My Team For The Game Would be... Etheridge Woodards - Kenneth - Parkes - L Brown Hunter - Clarkson - Clucas - Broghammer Richards - Eaves
going to go for a Chesterfield win as all my predictions have been wrong so far, ...maybe this will be the winning formula
s'recon these gas can beat they spireites? i spect these may come a cropper. do hope they gas stay in the league to cushion we tinpots fall.
yes but you are perilously close to the drop same as us. if we drop, my worst fear is you and the wobblers won't be there to catch us.
Up to now I'm the only one who voted for a Gas win. You pessimistic ****ers. After over 3 decades of supporting Rovers I still retain some hope.
my team..... --------------etheridge------------- woodards--kenneth--parkes--l.brown ---------lund----------clucus------- hammer-------clarkson--------hunter ---------------eaves---------------
Possible Line Ups. The Gas Etheridge Lund - Kenneth - Parkes - Paterson Smith - Clucas - Clarkson - Broghammer Riordan - Eaves (Key Player In Red) Chesterfield O'Donnell Smith - Forbes - Hird - Darwikwa Talbot - Togwell - Boa Morte - Clay Atkinson - Westcarr (Key Player In Red)
