Been a very interesting few days to say the least. However I am not surprised it has come to this. Lambert was always going to go at some stage and probably in this sort of manner. Remember the Burnley saga, where he could have dealt with that situation much quicker? Lambert is ambitious and this gives him reason to go for the rapidly disappearing vacancies. He leaves us in a decent position (with his stock high I may add) for which we thank him and now move on. I for one am seeing this from a half glass full point of view. We have a decent squad, reducing debt, in the Prem ...etc and so will be a reasonably attractive proposition for many managers. Add some new faces and we could do well. I hoped for one more season from Lambert ,but that is not to be so getting in the key man is essential and there are some decent names out there. Hughton, Poyet, Malky and many others would surely be interested, possibly some overseas names (Raffa anyone?). All this happening now means we get someone in with plenty of time to get payers in, mold his team and bond with the squad. All positive and exciting. So for me despite a Little acrimony, this could be the start of a whole new era that brings more success. Weave your magic Mr McNally! OTBC never mind the danger.....
I'm actually very positive as well, as I explained on my other thread we had a "Crisis" when colchester beat us Where there is crisis, there is opportunity! We have the man, McNally, to deliver us another class act of a manager if that whats to be. Lets be ambitious again, we have the setup to be really, really great for years to come.
Absolutely Beef. There is always the possibility things could go badly and many are automatically assuming this will happen to us. However a great opportunity for me, for the club to move even father forward. Bottom line is that no manager or player is bigger than the club and the fans.
You don’t have a decent squad without Lambert and chums; it was his/their ability to get players to consistently play above themselves that was the key behind your success, without their input you’re just left with the lower Championship/League One players you bought.
Care to accept your lack of understanding of the judicial system? Get yourself down the library or I'll start testing you
I wasn't aware Lambert actually played any games this year?? We have some of the highest quality young players in the country cheers, hows Ian Henderson working out for you...
Evening Mike, you do not finish 12th in the league without the players performing. To be honest Lambert has been tinkering with the team since we were beaten by Leicester in the cup. Various formations, leaving Holt out...etc were causing me and many others concerns. If it were not for eeking out a couple of wins and a bit of luck we may well have finished lower in my opinion. He has a huge job to do at Villa. With the greatest respect to them and taking in the equation it was the last game, they were absolutely awful at CR. He may well struggle there. Another issue is his ego. He has yet to manage teams and players with egos as big as his. That will be interesting to see. Its not like Norwich or Colchester at these big clubs. Any way he is going , we move on which I thought you may have done by now.
I'm hearing you lads and definitely feeling positive as well - we are Norwich City and we move on together
Sure your players performed at a level to finish 12th they cannot perform at without Lambert/Culverhouse’s influence. The tinkering is a clear sign again of the limits to how long a group of League One players can overachieve at Premiership level. The bottom line is you’re vastly overrating your current squad and are sorely underestimating Lambert’s achievements.
At the end of the day we've made Lamberts career if he wasn't still with Colchester he'd move on to someone better like MK Don's or Walsall. Let's just remember Norwich City will always exist and on the grand scale of things Lambert's a ****ing nobody who's just been given a big break. We'll get someone who is better and more loyal.
I don't know if this article on our 'Plan B' has been posted yet, but it's an interesting read. Whatever happens between now and next May, we're still in a vastly better position than we were after that Colchester game in '09. If anyone then had told me that by 2013 we'd be in the championship with a strong squad, a manageable wage cap and free of external debt, then I'd have been very happy with that. Anything more is a bonus, and our club are still in a great position.
I remember discussing 'managing players with egos' with some other Canaries fans about half way through last season and we qustioned whether he'd be able to do it.
I recall the thread rather well and I did question his ability with egotistical players, looks like we are going to find out soon enough.
The future is very bright at Carrow road, but it could go very dim if Neil Lennon takes over, apart from Rangers there isn't much of a challenge in Scotland is there.
