For me Sturridge (25) and Kane (21) should be picked well above the likes of Rooney (29). Kane for me has that Shearer look about his game, and Sturridge is simply a goal machine. Potentially a Shearer and Sheringham type of partnership. Will Woy have the bottle to go with what the nation thinks or will he stick with Rooney the past it, granny shagging twat?
I'm sure his Mum loves him. He's never going to drop Rooney, IMO. If there's one player who seems sacrosanct, it's the granny shagging twat! I think Kane and Austin should both be given a chance. Sturridge is already established. Kane and Sturridge in tandem could work, but they would need time to develop an understanding.
Kane deserves his place as first choice striker, since he is the one in-form. Remember how Roy promised that he'd pick players on form and not reputation? Well, we'l find out if that's the case.
Based on today's performance Sturridge has got more chance of being selected as Tom Daley's partner although he might miss the water.
Agreed. Kane deserves to be picked. His form has been brilliant (although he does look as though he's tired a bit recently) If like to see Charlie Austin selected too. He's as good as Kane imo and if he'd been playing for a big team, he might even have scored more than Kane.
There's no international tournament for the senior sides this summer, so I think it would be better if the younger players were left to the U21s. Berahino, Ings and Kane all seem capable of contributing as full internationals, but they'd do well to learn the process and try to win a trophy. Southgate should be allowed to pick anyone that he deems good enough and who qualifies. Austin should get a shot, Sturridge, Welbeck and Rooney are shoe ins and that's probably all that's needed for a couple of friendlies. The lack of alternatives is pretty pathetic, but I don't think that the younger players need this at the moment.
If Woy did play the pair, we return to the outdated 442 system with two deep banks of four and the LVG long ball tactic
He's 29 and playing as a holding midfielder. If he's the future, then the English national side really is ****ed.
