Is it just me or has the last six years taken the shine of our bond with Sunderland fans?

I was having a browse of other clubs boards as I do occasionally and I found an article on the Sunderland board asking opinions on their six new signings (even though two haven't been confirmed yet)

I posted this:

Norwich fan in peace. I, like many City fans, have a soft spot for Sunderland and I have to say I'm a little bit worried by some of the signings.

Westwood is a good young keeper and should serve you well and I won't comment on the Korean bloke as I know nothing about him. However the six mention in the original post are cause for concern.

Larssen, Vaughn and Gardener all played for clubs that were relegated, yes they were the better players at those clubs, but I'd still be worried that they weren't good enough last year and now they're that little bit older.

Brown and O'Shea are on the slide. O'Shea never fulfilled his potential due to never really have a specialist position and Brown is in my opinion one of the most over-rated players I've ever seen. He's a good solid player but if he wasn't at Man Utd I don't think he'd ever have played for England or lasted this long in the Premier League.

Wickham is a great prospect, but nothing more than that at the moment. He wasn't bad at championship level and had good games and bad games and will certainly be a star in the future, but at the moment he's probably a championship squad player at best. Even the Ipswich fans were saying he wasn't good enough and shouldn't have won the Football League young player of the year last year.

However I do hope Sunderland do well next season (with the exception of two games ) and I hope every word I've just typed is proved wrong.

Which I thought was a fair and honest assessment of their new signings and got this in response

You just have to laugh a one of the fans from a club that will be all to probably relegated next season, due to a total lack of EPL quality in their team, coming on to our board and having a pop at us signing 5 EPL players (for less than 12m) with pedigree and experience, one of the hottest young strikers in the game today, an experienced international keeper (who may be back up anyway to our 2 other international keepers) and a wild card in Ji Dong Won (a very highly rated Korean lad)?

I'd worry about beating Derby County's points tally before I would be offering advice to us kidda and I think you are talking out of your tractor driving arse - with all due respects of course?

Over-reaction or what?

not a lot of friendship going on there!

Will be great to have Bruce down at Carrow road next year, Sunderland are making a lot of movements on the transfer market, it'll work really well or fall on its arse I predict.

It's different footballing philosophies, Ours or theres isn't correct it's the difference that keeps it fresh.

But it was a tad of an over-reaction...

1st pretty sure the cup was scrapped completely wasnt it, as we just didnt play it enough (they may be bringing it back but not heard anything).

2nd even I have had a massive falling out with cest, I wont apologise for him, as thats up to him if he does or doesnt, but he does defend his corner vehemently, you basically said you didnt rate our new signings, what exactly did you expect to happen, everyone agree with you and say, "yeah ok, they are crap and we are going down", he may have went a tiny bit OTT but thats just cest for you.

All the best next season, but hope we win that cup lol

Don t post on other peoples boards slating all their new signings.... I would happily take any of those new players at Carrow rd...
