Have I missed it, 2 players left out on Sunday and lots of talk about Bendtner,"I decided not to play him", said MON, he is gone I heard but, what about the other one? please log in to view this image Was he injured or is he on his way out?
I have been looking round for info and could find nothing about why Catterrmole was missing and I find that interesting in itself. There aren't even any rumours on the fount of all knowledge that is the SMB. Maybe he missed the bus like Bendtner?
I hope he stays, he has certainly improved under Martin O'Neill and read an interesting piece from Steve Howey in the Sunday Sun who was praising him. Them two often play golf together and Howey said something along the lines of he had noticed the change in him since Marty took over and something had seemed to click in him and he instantly has started showing more maturity. I am a big fan of Cattermole and really believe he is under-rated.
But if we were offered decent money for him and it meant we could hang onto say Sess, he will be gone!
Catts in for me - the radio 5 said he was injured after they had got the team sheet so that's my evidence!! Said the same on Radio Newcastle and Century or whatever it's called nowadays.!!
Honestly I dont care, as in if MON wants to get rid of 20 players and bring 20 new ones in (I dont think he will), then thats fine by me, even Sess can go for me as long as we make a tidy profit on him. No one is bigger than the club, and I really think we should have sold SKP when Leeds put a 20 million bid in for him, so these days, if we make a profit, then thanks for your time but cya. (its better than them waling away for free at the end of their contract).
Catts in for me as well, we seem to be solid when he plays. But the ones that I've been very impressed with is young Colback and McClean, these are the players who are just getting better and think we need to build around players like these and Sess of course.
I'm not a fan of Cattermole and wouldn't shed too many tears if he was sold...Colback is much better in the central midfield role..
And there MrRAW is the problem IMO, its not a catts or no catts sits Colback. I think, and games played would suggest, that MON rates Jack very high, as I do. Now assuming that's true the next question is can they play together, I think it weakens the team when they do, we need one of them and a attacking CM player. Again assuming MON thinks that its will Catts stay and be support or do we cash in? My view, both deserve first team football and I rate Jack higher than Lee.
I also don't think they can both play in the same team, and if Catts is sold I believe Meyler will be ready to step up to the mark next season.
All about opinions - totally disagree - think Colback is better going forward but he was outplayed by 2 35+ year olds at the weekend - Cattermole wouldn't have let that happen (as he didn't against Citeh!) IMO and our midfield would've seen more of the ball with Catts and Colback I rate Jack very highly but think he looks a much better player when Catts is alongside him 4 2 3 1 with Jack and Catts in front of the back 4, Sess centre mid and McClean left mid and a new pacey right winger (someone like Hoilett) and I'd be happy
