The decision by FIFA has now, in my mind's eye, turned the footballing world as I have always known it in to an official mad-house.

Cancel all the European leagues and the associated national cup competitions along with the Champions and Europa League ties, and why not change everything that has been the norm in the sport since it's inception to complete the total insanity that has raised it's head today.

Please tell me that I woke up to a bad joke this morning and when I have had my cup of coffee everything will revert to the way it should be. Now I know for sure that the idiot Sepp Blatter has had his pockets filled and the rest of FIFA must have also dipped in to the pool of ineptitude that offered huge rewards.

Just think of the consequences of the decision to give the 2022 World Cup to Qatar in the first place and add on the utter chaos that this timing decision will have on the game in England.

If I were in charge of the game of football in England I would immediately withdraw our support of FIFA, and the fools and ethically challenged people that run it, and tell any overseas players that their contracts will be cancelled immediately if they decide to attend. Somewhat over the top I will admit but drastic action is needed unless we are prepared to accept how damaging this decision will be on the future of the game in England.

I have no problem with the sport going global but this is surely a bridge too far and it will be interesting to see how this plays out with all the European Football authorities when the consequences finally hit home, but then again we have had experience in the viability of a supposedly united continent with somewhat unfavourable results already so don't expect any good news.

Your thoughts will be read with interest but don't hold your breath waiting for anyone to wake up and smell the roses any time soon. If you get the impression that I am going crazy then you probably are right and when I get to Wembley I will spare a moment thinking of the last time I was there on a wonderful summer's day in 1966 when England won it all remembering how it used to be and despair that sanity has finally gone from the game I love forever.

    R.I.P.

The awards to Russia and Qatar had dodgy written all over them right from the start.

However, the respective football associations of each country who feel that the whole process is rigged should simply refuse to take part in any qualifying matches and with enough support neither competition could or would be run. It's basically a worldwide vote of no confidence in the governing body.

    Easy.

The words fair and football became strangers many years ago. It's just about money whether it's people having their own pockets lined for World Cup awards, or the likes of Cardiff City getting £60m for failing to stay in the Premiership last season.

That sort of crap also makes me despair along with simply ridiculous wages that players are now getting at, or near the top while people, especially children, in this country still live in poverty.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who is ticked off at idiot money grabbing mercenaries running the world of football. Why don't we just pick up our balls (pun intended) and go home.

It's not only the ones running football, it's the ones playing it at or towards the top level too.

When you see nasty pieces of work like Luis Suarez actually profit from biting opponents on several occasions and then secure a massive pay rise by going to Barcelona then there is no hope. Not that he was badly off at Liverpool......!!!!!!

I totally agree about the money side of things, think it has destroyed football really-

However, don't England always complain that the reason we are carp at World cups is because the players are burned out at the end of a long hard season, well, we ought to have a better chance then? also those in favour of a ,mid winter break could then see if it works in practice-

After all, the play offs were set up originally to reduce the number of teams in the Premier League from 22 to 20 and yet we still have them.

It only really effects europe, they've got the backing from the others already.

Plus the World Cup final the day before Christmas Eve, that's going to be a massive attraction. And flights out on Chritmas eve is really going to get everyone out. Can you imagin it "Alright love hold fire on the kids presents I might be in Quatar for Christmas."

Piss up in a brewery, but I can guarantee no ****er will complain.

it basically affects the uk premier league and likely to affect all teams even those in the FL as the additional tv money will attract more players from Spain Italy and France

Closer to home the Premier league has itself a five billion TV deal. "Itself!" That cash will barely be shared.

Winter World cup ... So what!

I agree with gdknac in that there is too much football.
Real greed has originated from the Premiership and the realisation that football could be such a money earner has leaked onto the international scene and given many opportunities for corruption.
However, the Prem is still a wonderful league: we are fortunate to have some A-list players in it, and our youngsters are getting to play with and against the best every week which may yet produce a successful international side.

I think Step Bladder should have been put away years ago, and its only a matter of time before he gets found out

Well for world cup matches it was top 2 divisions and X number of call up's allowed lower leagues?
With quite a few lower league clubs having the odd "international" it will affect them, on top of all that there is the friendlies and training camps leading up to it to contend with as well

By the time we get to Quatar 2022, they'll be an even worse country holding it with yet even more **** ups standing in the way of it being a success.
Wouldn't be surprised if they decided to give it to Afghanistan or Iraq at the rate at which FIFA are going!
