would the football league be better off being run like the NFL is ? Worth discussing? The fact that the bigger clubs find More ways round ffp and get richer to the detriment of lower league clubs does seem to prove a point.
I'd like to see a draft system where Accrington Stanley get the pick of any youth player of their choosing. I'd also like to see more foam fingers and hot dog sellers in the seated areas to avoid the need to queue for three days in the Upper Loft for a £4 cheeseburger. Apart from that, no.
I've always found it slightly odd that sport in the capital of Capitalism is run on a somewhat socialistic basis, with wage-caps and the draft system favouring the less fortunate. Hard to see it working here though - imagine our footballers having to go to college!
I like the wage cap idea in the MLS and Aussie football codes (I think). Clubs can only spend x amount on wages, how they divide it up between players is up to them. All depends on where you set the cap though.
The rich are too rich to let it happen. If anyone tries to rein them in they'll just pick up their ball and go and form their own Super League. It's one of the reasons that UEFA have given in on FFP...
