I will support Cardiff City whatever the name, whatever the colours, whoever is the owner and whoever is manager. It is a ritual. A tradition. A lifestyle. I won't change my support for whatever reason. The players need support. I did not boycott when the club changed to red. I won't boycott if Mackay resigns or is sacked. I won't boycott if this Turkish manager comes in. CARDIFF CITY FOR EVER WHATEVER.
I agree with the sentiment but I also think one of 2 things has to happen. Tan and the club must explain why MM was sacked (assuming he will be) to the satisfaction, or at least acceptance, of the fans. We need to make some sort of mass demonstration to show we didn't support this at, if that's how everyone feels. As a bit of perspective, this board has complained time and again about the style of play. Also that an 8 mill striker for the future is a bit of a piss take for a newly promoted team. After the West brom game about 20 fans in my end of the ninian broke into the don't sack MM song. No one else joined in. That was as a result to our pathetic effort at Palace more than anything imo but if Tan had sacked him after Palace it would have been seen as very reactionary but not hugely surprising. Hilts had predicted he'd be sacked if he lost to Stoke and Palace. A lucky 0-0 draw at Stoke is hardly a mile away from the 2 losses. I've said on here a few times I think we'll stay up if he's given the season, for that reason I'd like him to stay in charge however unlikely it now seems.
I like the idea of a silent protest. Asuming all goes as we expect, next time Tan is in the ground we all turn our backs and do/say nothing for a minute. Much more spectacular than the usual noise/attempted riot which does no one any good. In a preverse way he will understand that more as a loss of any respect for him that we may have had.
Something along the lines of "support the boys and make some noise" should be greeted with silence and 25k fans turning their backs for 3 or 4 minutes at the start of the game. It would make national news.
It would make a real statement. Just hope the team would know it is no reflection on them and we are behind them all the way.
We can then turn around and loudly support the boys for the following 85 minutes no problem. It would be a much more significant protest than 2k fans shouting outside the ground for an hour before the game and relatively easy to organise.
Will you boycott when the club is renamed The Cardiff Firebirds and the club motto is "Maju dan Makmur"?
Tan will be gone one day, the club will always be there and the fans will always be there. CARDIFF CITY aka THE BLUEBIRDS forever.
Maybe if you knew the full story regarding the Allams and the name change you might not be so quick to point fun at us.
