So since there's only 2 games left, I think we've left it long enough to discuss this, personally.

ASSUMING WE STAY UP - (Which I fancy us to, seeing as we have the easiest games)

    Outs -

Coloccini - Time to go. Not up to usual level. Not reliable.

Saylor - Crock. Get rid for whatever we can get for him.

Gouffran - Feel sorry for him after a good start he's had to come in a do a crap job, but Jonas looked every bit capable of carrying on the defensive winger role, so we have no need for the lad. I hope he returns to another country and starts scoring again. Wish him all the best.

Obertan - Should do fine in the championship

    Maybes -

Williamson in/out? - He's been terrible recently, but as long as he isn't relied upon for first choice CB duties, he should be good enough. He has improved over the last couple of years, and seeing as our best hope for next year is around 10th, I'd say he's good enough for 4th choice.

I'm just concerned that getting rid of all our CB's in one transfer window will be too much. Taylor is a no brainer, he's just injured all the time and no use. Coloccini is past it and too old. He has nothing to offer now, at least Williamson can be used for aerial threats and be relied upon for at least a handful of solid, meatier performances.

As much as you hate Williamson, I personally believe we'd have stopped that first goal as he'd likely have been marking Anichebe, instead of Jonas/Colo.

I'd much rather have him than Saylor as 4th choice.

A new gk? - I think it's up for consideration, but I think Krul's 1st choice spot should be challenged, at least. An elliot is obviously not near the same level as Krul, which is worrying.

    Ins -

A proper captain at CB - We need an experienced defender that's reliable and actually leads the team. We have no leader or anyone that can influence from the back.

Two young, reliable CB's - Two CB's that can learn from the leader. One able to start first team duties next season, one that can be gradually introduced.

A new LB - I don't know why Haidara hasn't been developed, but we can't assume he's going to be able to pick up the pieces next season. Dummett is bad, and should be a reserve.

A central playermaker - I think we can have reasonable faith in our wing options. Another winger will be great, but I think we really need a creative CAM/CM - Cabella should do well in time, he was ok in sparks on saturday, but need some extra creative support. There's no way Cabella can be relied on to do a similar job to Cabaye.

A new striker - We need someone can actually lead the line well. Perez is not a main striker, he should be playing off the striker. Cisse is becoming injury prone and can be relied upon for a good injection of goals, but can we rely on him to stay fit and score goals to get us back in mid table? I don't know if I wan't that gamble and be back to Riviere and Perez again.

I'd take Austin, but we need to provide him some service, thus the emphasis on good player makers and winger perhaps.

    Any, questions?

Williamson maybe? He should be Mangoneled from the stadium the minute the season is over. Along with Saylor, Raylor, Sammy, Obertan, Dummett, Elliot and this may sound brutal but Jonas. Happy he has beat a vile disease but ****ness is as ****ness does. We may be able to get around 3-4 million for Tiote if some team might be stupid enough to buy him. I wish Gouffran no ill but perhaps it is time he left.

If we stay up we should move the following players out of the club:

Elliott, Raylor, Colloccini, Williamson, Anita, Gouffran, Sammy, Obertan, Jonas, Marveaux, Tiote.

    We'd then have:

    Krul, Darlow, Woodman

    Janmaat, Lascelles, Saylor, Dummett, Haidara,

Cabella, Aarons, Abeid, Colback, Sissoko, De Jong,

    Perez, Armstrong, Riviere, Cisse

A squad of 18 relatively young and hungry players. We'd need a right back, two centre halves, a winger, a centre mid and a proven striker.

So 6 players needed at a minimum provided none left.

If we go down, which there is still a good chance then you can add Sissoko, Cisse, Krul and Janmaat to the players that will leave with possibly Cabella joining them.

Assuming that we manage to contrive , wether by good luck or ..... <laugh> ...good management to stay up, Its actually easier to say who you would keep rather than who you would let go

Krul (just ..I know he has had to be a keeper with the equivalent defence of a wet paper bag in front of him but he seems.. 'not there' this past season/18 months ..another keeper/competition is required)
    Janmaat (definitely)
    PEREZ (DEFINITELY)
Dummet (back up utility defender role)
Cabella (Just because I want him to do well, obviously has the talent and think he could with better players around him)
    Anita (squad)
    Colback
De Jong (unless he truly has bones made of over cooked spaghetti, if so ..then adios)
    Arma (squad/future)
    Abeid
Aarons (if we can manage it by offerign him a bag of frazzles and can of irn bru as a 6 yr contract)
Haderia (back up squad left sided Def/Mid)

I am probably missing some who should stay ...but to me it looks bleak and 10 + players are required to become ..vaguely/mildly.. competitive

I'd rather have Colo as back up than Wilko.

IF de Jong could stay fit he and Cabella would be a creative influence in mid-field. Him staying fit is probably impossible, though.

    Otherwise, hard to argue

Coloccini won't stay to be a back up, and Williamson has probably been our most consistent defender up until the last 5-6 months or so. He was doing alright then we started playing extremely bad and he went down the ****ter with most of the players.

My list of certainly need to go in any other dimension bar the one where you like having a **** team. I think its easier to say who you'd like to retain:

Krul, Darlow, Woodman, Dummett, De Jong, Colback, Abeid, Cabella, Janmaat, Aarons, Armstrong, Perez, Lascelles, Kemen, Roberts, Satka, (16)

The may be worth retaining: Tiote (if you can teach what a football is again), Anita, Obertan, Sissoko (if we are going to have a squad, otherwise **** relying on him), Cisse, Mbabu (6)

The rest can go for me. Colo, Willo, Marveaux, Sammy, Riviere, Elliot, Gouffran, Ferreyra, Jonas, Raylor, Saylor, Haidara, Good, Streete, Vuckic, Campbell, Alnwick (18)

That last bunch are a mixture of ****e, pussified, or injury prone.

Anyone who would retain either Willo, Gouf or Riviere should just end it all. It is a stretch to call them footballers. **** sentiment with Jonas. Its horrible what the bloke has gone through but there is no room for pity. Colo is talented but I don't think he really cares anymore, his head went with that whole family issue. Haidara is ******ed. Elliot is nothing more than a trumped up ladyboy with all that eye make up. Sammy, time to end the Ameobi curse. He's wretched. Saylor should just marry Derek Wright and be done with it. Marveaux can get ****ed, we don't want his lily-livered soul back here. Raylor, again no sentiment, he is ****ed. Good, Streete, Vuckic, Campbell, Alnwick - young lads who need to head down the leagues. Ferryra - who?

Consistent at being ****ing ****? The guy is Championship standard at best and having him as one of our first choice CB really shows what a ****ing wretched mess we are in.

    Gouff really is totally ****.

The only players I'd keep are Colback, Janmaat, Perez, Dummy, Sissoko and Aaron's.

No disrespect to the OP, but trying to second guess Charnley's plans is pointless. What should happen and what will happen we all know are very different things. We "should" have lost some serious garbage when we last tried to get relegated, we didn't. We kept Obertan, Willo, et al and I expect us to do more of the same. If big fees appear for Sissoko, Cisse, Krul, Janmaat or Tiote they'll go, no other reason. We'll be under the "leadership" of Charnley, the "dynamism" of super-scout/DOF Graham Carr and all will be given on a take it or take it plate for Head Coach legend Carver.

Most realistic rumour so far is Tom Heaton in for Krul. Not sure if that's the bloke from the Beautiful South, probably is, but as long as he's got resale value, great.

Assuming this club has to play a 4-2-3-1 or something equally "modern", we're - in NUFC terms - short one CB. That's literally it.

    GK: Krul/Woodman/Elliott
    RB: Janmaat/Anita
    LB: Dummett/Haidara
    CB: Colo/????
    CB: Saylor/Willo
    DM: Colback/Abeid
    DM: Tiote/Abeid
    RM: Sissoko/Ameobi
    CM/No10: De Jong/Perez
    LM: Cabella/Aarons
    CF: Cisse/Armstrong

Additional unnecessary luxuries include Gouff, Obertan, Jonas, Armstrong, Satka, Streete, Ryan Taylor.

Now we may well start a revolving door. But we don't do so to improve, we do so to make a profit, so we're not looking to buy Colo a one-way ticket to Argentina whilst lining up a deal for Shawcross. Nosirree. We'd be looking for Al-Ahly to spunk £10m on Cisse so we can try and steal Ings for £6m. But heaven forbid we buy Ings anyway. Nope, I think we're at capacity. Our no-mark coach would nod to Head W@nker Charnley that he's "happy with the squad", and nothing will change.

So, in summary, I expect one African CB from France (because in spite of protests this club does NOT learn its' lessons) and a few cheap(er) replacements.

    Mark these words, folks.

I just cannot envisage any players signing for us. The press we have had this season is so bad. Must play a big part in anyone's thinking should we make an approach to sign them

We just know, in our heart of hearts that the club is feeding us a load of horse **** right now and that Fat Mike will shove his sausage fingers serenely up our collective arses come deadline day and we will be left with a woefully weak squad yet again.

Mate, we don't need to look as deep as our heart of hearts by now, surely? We just need to think for more than one second and realise they ran this model post-relegation, they did the same when we nearly went down two years ago and will do the same again and again. There's no change, there's no culpability. A fab comment I read was about Charnley and "mistakes" - I'd dearly love them to say, exactly, what these "mistakes" are. It's like dealing with greasy politicians in Charvley, Charver and Cashley.

I mean, there was an actual, signed letter from Charvley saying "we'll bring the fans forum meeting forward from the end of the season. Well, they've got 10 days to somehow arrange that. But where's the accountability? Doesn't exist. They worked this sh!t out YEARS ago when we went down and fck all happened. They knew with Kinnear, with Wise, with Hughton and Keegan treatment, that there's not a fcking thing we can or will do about it, and even at 30,000 people through the turnstiles it's a decent enough turnover for a club whose ambition is 17th in the PL. It's an utter lost cause, it's a microcosm of all that's wrong with football and it simply doesn't mean enough any more to matter. These are random, foreign millionaires kicking a bag of air about. They'd kill their own gran, to a man, for a move up the chain and more money. It's not a support, it's a commercial operation. You might as well support Apple, for example. If you're into football, support truly local teams; if, like me, you were only really into NUFC, just walk away. Nobody will miss you, thanks to Ashley nobody will care. I haven't been to church since I was 10 and I'm still well adjusted without God, so it follows that this other religion is just a fad made up of fictional feelings, so I'll be better off without it!!
