    It was inevitable but a real tragedy for a once famous and proud institution. Glasgow Rangers FC have announced the first staff cuts due to their on-going perilous financial situation.

    An official spokesman commented "it is with great sadness that we have had to terminate the contracts of four referees and eight linesmen".
