Not entirely sure how to rate this one yet, but pretty sure it gets 10/10 for all those WDCs donuting together. Not going to see anything like that for a long time,, I imagine.
Best Driver: Hamilton Worst Driver: Bottas Luckiest Driver: Hulkenburg Unluckiest Driver: Ericsson Best Rookie/New Driver: That kid from Monaco. Again. Best Team: Mercedes Surprise Team: Sauber Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Leclerc on Ricciardo, even though we didn’t see it. Most Surprising Result: Magnussen not being involved in an accident Least Surprising Result: A Haas being involved in an accident Funniest moment: WDC Doughnuts/Alonso’s corner cutting Excuse of the week: Stroll still is an excuse of a driver Special Mention: Leclerc could have been leading for a few laps but for Sauber’s strategy Race Rating: 8/10
Best Driver: Hamilton Worst Driver: Bottas Luckiest Driver: Hulkenburg Unluckiest Driver: Hulkenberg, normally contact ends in a spin or pushed out wide, not a barrel roll into the barriers. Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc Best Team: Mercedes Surprise Team: Sauber still showing strong form. Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: 3 way duel with Vandoorne with Ocon and a Haas (Grosjean I think) Most Surprising Result: Ricciardo finished Least Surprising Result: Bottas falling away again in the race. Sulky Verstappen not showing respect at the end and keeping out of the celebrations for Alonso etc Funniest moment: WDC Doughnuts/Alonso’s corner cutting Excuse of the week: Sirotkins backers saying they were the ones who pulled the plug on his drive. Special Mention: Alonso. End of a career, nice touch on the slowdown lap by Ham/Vet shadowing him back to the finish line. Race Rating: 8/10[/QUOTE]
Best Driver: Verstappen. Although for his flaws he has been the top driver of the last 3 races. This week he pulled some great moves. Worst Driver: Sirotkin. Best he's gone. Not made for F1 Luckiest Driver: Bottas. How oh how did he not get a penalty for a huge shortcut. Alonso got 3 5sec penalties Unluckiest Driver: Hulk. Though maybe he was a bit too squeezie squeezie Best Rookie/New Driver: LeClerc. So excited to see him in a Ferrari. Best Team: Haas. Another double points finish. Surprise Team: Renault. Well Sainz. Was a good result. Worst Team: Toro Rosso. Engines were knackered Best Overtake: Ricciardo on Bottas. Most Surprising Result: as mentioned sainz Least Surprising Result: The backwards Bottas Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: verstappen qualifying rant. Pt3 Special Mention: Alonso. Will be missed. Best post in race thread: Race Rating: 6/10 was ok but was typical of the last 5 years with 3sec gaps between each car.
Best Driver: Hamilton Worst Driver: Bottas Luckiest Driver: Magnussen Unluckiest Driver: Ericsson Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc. Hopefully i dont pick the same driver every race for this award next year. Best Team: Mercedes Surprise Team: Sauber Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Vandoorne coming back at Grosjean and Ocon Most Surprising Result: None. Least Surprising Result: Bottas falling back during a race. Funniest moment: Alonso’s corner cutting Excuse of the week: Anyone defending Sirotkins terrible race pace. Special Mention: Alonso. Car may have forced him out with a bit of whimper, but 21-0 in qualifying shows what F1 is missing. Race Rating: 7.5/10. No classic, but probably the second best race ever at Abu Dhabi.
Best Driver: Hamilton Worst Driver:Bottas Luckiest Driver: Grosjean, surprised he didn;t get race ending damage. Unluckiest Driver:Ericson, again Best Rookie/New Driver: Leclerc, again Best Team: hmm, Mercedes? Surprise Team: Renault Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Not an overtake, Vandoorne defending during the 3 abreast Most Surprising Result: Least Surprising Result:Max making contact with 2 cars Funniest moment: The stewarding decisions, funny as in weird rather than humourous though Excuse of the week: whatever reason the stewards gave for giving Alonos a penalty but not Bottas. Special Mention: race wise, Sainz. Best post in race thread: Race Rating: 7/10 there was action and late brake overtakes, which is what we want, though preferably for 1st.
