I've had 2-or-3 fairly innocuous WUM posts removed and definitely quite mild posts by the standards we have here by the WUMMING scum visitors on our board.

Just now I had a picture edited out or removed from my post.

I honestly prefer our standards of tolerance -unless it became something of poor taste (such as yesterday's thread with people laughing at a disabled person and provocative use of the word 'negro' by one of the turds) and feel that the accusation if fair:-

You can dish it out, but ...

The majority are fairly tolerant I feel on our board.

If you bait it; some bite and some don't. (Tash will always bite...)

I just reply with in the standard of the jest the OP had in mind.

I don't like articles or comments being deleted unless they are of a blatently offensive or racist nature.

I think that very often they reflect badly on the OP anyway, who make themselves look ridiculous, so sometimes it is better to leave them up for everyone to see.

What you find when you post the odd comment on their board is that a good deal of their posters go into siege mentallity mode and act is if you have committed the crime of the century when you wind them up. Then, at least one of their mods, responds by removing the post so as to gain favour with the mob.

I would NEVER post anything racist

Generally bh, your board are far less WUM-tolerant, I'd be interested in the experience of other WUMMERS

Roger and Bart do this too, they aren't the only ones.

not sure about the gaining favour malarkey, the do like to press the delete button though, whereas we tend to let it ride

Well with the likes of tash, Badger, Ninja and Joker ...well they hardly come across as intellectual giants now do they? Joker in particular has delusions of self-wit.

I agree with you about the siege mentality and exactly the same thing happens on here. I said as much to Syd a few months ago. Maybe it is because people have more freedom on here than on 606, but these boards seem to be a lot more tribal and allow keyboard warrior's a platform to act up.

Don't get me wrong, these boards would be pretty boring without a bit of banter, and I really like clever and humourous wumming, but there are posters on both boards who seem to love crossing the line.

    Exactly my point.

Well, i know we moderate our board very lightly.

I closed a thread yesterday, but i didn't delete it, the reasons where clear, some didn't see it as racism and prejudice, but some did, so it had to be stopped.

Facts are that is the 2nd thread i've ever closed, and i have deleted 3 or 4 comments.

I know from the mails i receive that a lot of our lads have had stuff removed, i've read some of the comments and they have been deleted for no reason, other than being a good comeback!

Maybe we need to get s=a system where the mods between the 2 boards liase with each other before we delete anything?

You can't take the banter out of Sunderland v Newcastle, you wouldn't want to.

Sometimes someone's gonna down you in a verbal, and you just have to take it on the chin.

I stand by my rules of thumb that only racism, personal attacks etc should be deleted.

I think that mods liasing before a post or an article is deleted is a good idea. A mod must be able to justify why they have deleted a post and by discussing it with another mod will result in

    a) The deleting mod listening to another moderator's opinion (who may actually back him up)
    b) The poster whose comment has been deleted being given an explanation why from his own moderator.

    I'm fine with that mate.

Me and Syd, and later me and Welder, used to always confer and warn before we deleted owt (in the event we deleted very scarcely), i think it's the way forward.

Myself, Dorset and Commachio are very tolerant anyway, so our board will remain untouched, in the main.

Trouble is what is banter to some, is wumming to others. We don't get involved until there is a couple of complaints....unless it is blatantly obviously racist or the like. We get involved naturally, if it becomes overly heated or personal. Usually it gets it self sorted with out the need for interference's although some times a Pm with a bit of advice, with maybe a whisper in the ear sort of approach, if it is getting to near the mark. Not all will react favourably to this approach and in some cases will turn on you. Then you will get the gang up approach, all there buddies slating you for daring to question their buddy and your actions. Makes the job interesting at the time.

I saw that thread and it was your lot that started making something out of nothing. if i remember it was a guy in a sunderland shirt and a guy in a wheelchair. any normal person would know it was a hint towards little britain but no you guys span your bull**** to call out the poster to be making fun of the disabled. then the convo went onto political correctness. it was your lot that started that ****.

off your board the only level head ones seem to be dorset and syd.

I will openly admit on that thread, i personally didn't see how it ended up there, it started as a bit of back and forth, and there was no need for it to degenerate the way it did.

You'll notice i stopped commenting once it went awry, but i kept an eye on it till enough was enough.

I stated this on the thread when i closed it.

I'll PM your mods, we'll get a system in place, i'm personally against deleting, as generally if it needs deleting, it's an idiot making himself look an idiot, so ina backward way you're doing him a favour removing it!

one thing that is annoying me is i know alot of our guys have alot of respect for your mods. the thing is to remember that mods are just posters who are deemed to be a little more level headed and can take a somewhat neutral stance. on our boards syd is thought of very highly due to his nature of being a mod. yet like all others he likes to have a bit of banter and i think most are cool with that... a few times when one of our mods has tried to banter he gets shot down and called a disgrace and that he shouldnt be a mod and know better.

i mean come on.. you cant have one rule for one and one rule for another, all the mods ive come across are reasonable people. and they all deserve respect and most give it but they are a few posters i feel cross the line directly targeting the mods unfairly.

i think it was one of our mods that posted the guy in the wheelchair and it was obviously a hint at little britain... i think the only reason it was made such a big deal is a because hes one of us and b he was one of our mods.

thats just my opinion on it anyways

    I fully agree.

I personally have had moments when both Toon and Sunderland fans have questioned me being a mod because i'll swear, and i'll fight back, and i'll defend myself.

It's simple, i'm a fan and poster first, the mod thing came second, i honestly think we've got the balance right now on our side, the amount of complaints and issues to deal with now are minimal.

I think it helps that none of our mods are 'anti-Newcastle' as such.

We're all 100% Sunderland, and we all piss ourselves when you **** up, but none of us are the sort to take it over the line.

This is important, keeps the blinkers off.

I have seen Badger post anti-Sunderland articles, but i know him a little bit away from the board and he's a good lad, sometimes he just gets caught up in the heat of the moment, as can happen to anyone.

I see my name mentioned further up the page, i can count the number of times i have been to the skunks board on one hand. when i do go it is in retaliation, and i purposely set off on there to be very reasonable until picked on, then i let loose with both barrels, inevitably i find I'm too quick for them, and end up replying to about 5 threads at once.

The nicer mags i like a lot OverseasToon is the best example wonderful guy and chapazz, AG, BUT THERE ARE SOME WHO COME ON HERE SOUNDING NICE BUT ARE VERY VINDICTIVE ON THIER OWN SITE.

As soon as the 19 year old sadistic badger enters the fray, and you have the audacity to give him back, better than he can come up with he deletes, this is so he can win the argument, then suddenly the next or after complaints the next day its back as if by magic.

That's why personally i detest the cretin as he wums here and on his own board and must think he is god and beyond reproach. his favorites are giving you negative rep power as you cant see who is doing it. typical

In closing i would say as we are more tolerant we have resident skunk wums, this would never be allowed to happen on there board. so if i was allowed to i would be there version of our very own skunk the troll on their board. just to see how they like it back.............. justice for all
