“I enjoyed it (at Ipswich). It was a good move for me. I made a lot of friends down there, and I had really had a good time there. In my final season I scored a few goals and it was really enjoyable.” Sums it all up.. I was in the worst ever Ipswich Town side, flirted with relegation throughout my time, was an embarrassment on the pitch and I enjoyed it
The worst of our overpriced flops! £2.2 Million for a headless chicken who brought shame on our club through the notorious "handcuffs" celebration! What a prize twat!
I never really rated the guy, but I could see why others did. He had some worthwhile qualities which served us well at times, his goals certainly covered up his other frailties which included a complete lack of positioning sense and an over enthusiasm to be everywhere at once. But it was always going to be difficult to have him in a team unless you were to 'build' that team around him and quite frankly he wasn't good enough to sacrifice the other positions in the way we did.. I personally hold him responsible for the reason Leadbitter never excelled with us but will probably go on to be very successful at Boro. With Norris in the team you are arguably crushing any creativity in those around him
I think we're being slightly harsh personally. Though not a great Norris fans, it's hardly his fault he cost £2.2 million. We were overspending left right and centre on players back then. To my mind, he offered a hell of a lot more than Leadbitter ever did. I thought he was a decent acquisition, but very overpriced and likeways wages. If he'd have cost his actual value, £800,000, we wouldn't be having this discussion no doubt!
Never rated the guy. You could never be critical of his work rate, but usually there was no end product to all this effort, because I think his reading of the game was so poor, okay he scored the odd goal, but he was not for me. His style of play was very similiar to Steve Palmer who used to play for us, but Palmer never scored as many goals as Norris.
what a useless **** he really was/ is Bags of energy but no footballing ability or intelligence whatsoever. Hes like a footballing version of forest gump.
If he scores a hat-trick against us tomorrow I will run naked around the Electric House and Cornhill before our game against Brizzle!
Completely agree with this!! On the surface of it he looked decent enough but continously played at 100 miles an hour, just made things look scrappy, when ever a fellow midfielder had the ball he would turn his back and just head up the pitch, he'd never offer himself for the ball, to me he was the polar opposite to Owen Garvan. Whenever he got the ball he would appear to run into the place wherever most opposition players were on the pitch!! IMO not technically the worst player we've had at the club but like Delaney his positional sense had a real negative effect on our performances and team shape. In a strange way his high workrate meant other players had to work harder because he was running around like a headless chicken. Definitely glad to see the back of him and yes I do think we didn't see the best of Leadbitter (who is a good player at this level) for many reasons and Norris was one of the main ones. The best game I saw him in was the first game of the 2009/2010 season when we played Coventry and Keane decided to play him in the DM role in a midfield 5, I thought he was great until he got injured. He would break up play and then play the ball simply to the players around him in a much more disciplined role, almost like a Mascerano role. I think this position would have suited him. But also like Delaney I feel no amminosity to the guy, he always gave 100%, showed good character, a good attitude (apart from the whole handcuffs thing) and never let the club down except for their ability!!!
god that comment almost made me cry with laughter. He was great in every way other than the ways you would want him to great.
