The key recommendations from both parts of Dyke’s report

    Part one:

    - The introduction of Premier League B teams into English football.
    Terrible idea.Dont let it happen.
    - The development of “strategic loan partnerships” between clubs.
Terrible idea. Dont let it happen.
    - Overhaul of visa system to reduce number of “mediocre” non-EU players.
    Yes.
    - Maximum number of non-homegrown players in matchday squad reduced from 17 to 12.
    Yes.
    Part two:

    - Invest £230m over five years in 150 new football hubs in 30 cities.
    Yes.
    - 50% increase the total number of full size, publicly accessible 3G pitches in England to more than 1,000.
    Yes.
    - Target 50% of all mini soccer and youth football matches to be played on 3G by 2020.
Not a big deal, plenty of pitches not used enough.
    - Bring together FA’s coach education work in single new department.
    Why wasnt it already?
    - More than triple number of youth coaches within next three years.
    Yes.
    - Increase number of pro-licence holders from 200 to 300.
    Aim for more than that.
    - “Significantly increase” the number of coaches from BME backgrounds and the number of female coaches.
    Increase from all backgrounds

That 50% of youth games to be played on 3G pitches one, is due to 25% of all amateur games being cancelled last season due to unusable pitches.

Playing knee deep in mud may be nostalgic, but it really isn't conducive to developing good footballers.

Dont you think games in the last ten years are just called off for any excuse though. I can hardly remember having a game called off as a kid or in mens football in the late 70's or 80's. By the mid 90's it seemed we got more cancelled and its carried on like that.

I've played with big puddles on the pitch on Prinny Elizabeth, Oak Rd loads of places, Picky Park always had puddles. The parkys seemt o just cancel all the pitches in one go without even looking at them nowadays.

good article about it. I liked this comment

hmm. £750million for a stadium that has no impact on the game
    OR
£750 million on hundreds/thousands of pitches and facilities
which one will you pick. the one that gives you free access to sporting events where you can sit with your rich mates or the one that will help people around the UK in terms of activities, fitness and encouraging to play the game?
that's what they've done so far. i have the opinion that given the opportunity they'll just cock it up again.

I'm sure that's true, my lads team had a lot of Sunday League games cancelled last season, two of them were cancelled so late that nobody knew until they arrived, they didn't think there was anything wrong with the pitches, so went ahead and played the games as friendlies.

Picky Park has replaced the puddles with dog ****e nowadays.

Increase number of pro licence holders from 200 to 300. Meanwhile Germany has over 1,000 and Spain over 2,000.
More importantly they have around 30,000 coaches with qualifications for teaching youngster whilst we have about 2,700.

The fees for coaching qualifications is disgusting. Or they were when I last looked anyway.
