Its coming along nicely, its came at a crucial time given that Rooney got sent off yesterday, i've been impressed with Falcao up to now, He's got 2 assists in 2 games and both of them have been for Van Persie goals, Van Persie has come good at an important time as well, he's back on form in my opinion.
I thought van Persie was cack again yesterday. Did he touch the ball before he scored? He's hopelessly off the pace. Rooney's a **** but he's the only forward we have who can keep up with Di Maria when we attack. Without him in the team we will he playing a much more pedestrian style of football.
I would like to see Falcao get a goal. Would open the floodgates imo. RVP has scored without playing particularly well. I dont think we'll miss Rooney. I disagree about the pace, that will come from our midfield and the movement of Herrera, Di Maria and the full-backs as much as Falcao. I also think Mata will pull the strings and create more clear cut chances than Rooney. Our attack won't be a problem.
The red card might be a blessing in disguise With Rooney out for 3 matches, it will give LVG the chance to dry a different midfield / attack options, where we have plenty of variations. Its the defence where we have little options, and will still be a problem until the injury list gets shorter.
Im of the opinion rooney has been decent this season. Hes always involved and has quickly linked up with the new guys. So often its been rooney setting di maria on his way for example. So he will be missed but mata brings a different kind of quality. Slick, composed passing, movement and such. Play him wide of herrera with di maria the otherside. Falcao up top.
When they click, Rooney, Mata, RVP and Falcao - they will steamroll teams. Unfortunately with the fragile defence, they may end up drawing a lot of games 6-6. Should make an interesting season...
Yes. But will their attack be as good to get advantage of that crap defence? If the players do not press the self destruct button - like rafael and Rooney did - I can see United winning most of their matches.
