The FA have been granted permission to talk to Hodgson. I hope he takes it. I much prefer him to Harry.

A bit of a surprise given all the speculation surrounding Redknapp. It has been dragging on for quite some time though and it may be that Spurs would have wanted too much compensation, or may be Harry was a little reluctant to leave Spurs. With Hodgson the desire to stay at West Brom would not be as strong IMO. Which ever way it goes it will be an experienced English manager in charge. I just hope whoever it is refrains from picking Beckham!!

Reliably informed this isn't a negotiating tactic on the FA's part. Roy Hodgson is their No 1 choice to be the next England manager

That's OK by me Sarg <ok>

He seem's to be an approahable man, knows his football and IMHO has vastly improved WBA F.C.

IMO a very boring manager who only knows how to defend. England have fast paced skillful players coming through who will be completely wasted with him as manager. Another **** up by the FA!!!!!

Didn't you notice the difference between W Brom last seson and this?
For the record check out Woy's Managerial portfolio..

Then, look at Arry's 34 years a Manager trophies won = a big fat ONE.

It's not our choice Ric anyway we've all got oppinions so IF Woy gets the job let's just get behind England, and Woy.

He has done a fantastic job at WBA, with NO money, however I do agree that he is tactically very defensive - something we have been looking to get away from.

Rednapp won the FA cup with a very poor side (portsmouth), he rescued that side from the abyss after they were rock bottom with 6 games to play and got them into the top half and a very good footballing side, before he was there he was at at West Ham and he got them to be a solid top 8 team and played cracking attacking football. He then went to Spurs who were rock bottom on 8 points after playing 12 games, they are now pushing for champios league. In football its not always about trophies IMO, with Rednapp you are guaranteed to see attacking football and take it to the opposition and with Hodgson I feel a few of the players will be wasted. I will get behind whichever manager gets the job but there is no question IMO who is the better manager. You only have to look at how Hodgson was at a big club (Liverpool) and being England manager will be harder than that. I hope he is succesful but there will always be the questions like if he gets to the quarter finals where would we have got if Rednapp was manager?. I hope whoever gets the job is successful for all of us loyal fans who have been let down over the last god knows how many years.

Bear in mind that Woy isn't the type of Manager who's likly to tell the FA to do one! is he.

On the other hand, Harry does'nt care who he upsets, I like that kind of guy and no doubts Redknapp has done well.

So did Brian Clough and look what happened there? He told it how it was, NOT what the F.A. want to hear I suppose that's how I see it...

Sadly, Cloughie NEVER was invited to take the England job.. big mistake that was IMHO.
