Being a petty s.o.b. I wrote to both the FA and the Government to register my complaint about the system and how unfair/unbalanced everything is. For anyone interested, here's the response with a link to the England commission report as to how to "fix anything". Feel free to take and use the gun I've just used to blow my own brains out. There's a large PDF available here: http://www.thefa.com/news/2014/may/08/fa-commission-report. For anyone bothered about this kind of thing. To summarise more succinctly if you don't want to download it - "we at the FA don't know what we're doing, what's wrong, how to fix it and so we're not going to do anything."
I think people will, do what i did last night ,soon . Could not be bothered ,to watch the man city game , because of the media arse lickers and the fact , i knew who was going to win . A matter of time for me like.
I've been like that for nearly 10 years. Not interested in watching other teams. I maybe watch a dozen games not involving Newcastle in a season.
For me it’s beyond just matches. Can’t be arsed with “news” or the countless rehashed blogs. It’s just dull. I reckon they know this all has a finite shelf life but are determined to milk it as much as possible and to hell with legacies, history and the fans.
The FA, Premier League, Sky and top clubs have turned our once wonderful league and thriving game in to a cesspit of inequality. We are no different to Spain now. A duopoly at the top that has the money and best players and the rest get to fight it out for scraps. The excitement in the PL comes from the battle to survive, not the battle at the top since there isn't one. I have no interest in watching Man City. They are almost like the Harlem Globetrotters. I couldn't care a less about them winning the league, or anything else. It's getting boring watching them dominate. The difference between them and even someone like Spurs is just wrong. The FA Cup has been destroyed. Most on here will remember the buzz on third round day when we were optimistic no matter how **** we were. You always thought that we could have a decent cup run. Nowof course, another competition ruined by the ****ing money and Sky. Tactics - Football is just so boring to watch now. I like Benitez as a person, but watching us under him is awful. Negative, defensive football which has not entertainment purpose. A lot of managers employ that style now and it is killing the game as aspectator sport. Plus, the diving, lack of physicality and general sanitising if the game is just bs. Modern grounds/ fans - American bowls designed to provide to consumers. It may be a hackneyed phrase, but now that Steph the Estate Agent boss and family attend games whilst eating their burgers, chips and taking ****ing selfies, the atmosphere has been ruined.
100% accurate, 100% agree. Football's just crap now. Maybe 30 years ago our mums and dads were similarly giving up, fed up with Liverpool dominance, realising life is a lot richer without NUFC/football sucking the fun out of it. Or maybe it's genuinely worse now. I notice in the playground it's not how it used to be. I remember it being far more of a 'thing' about 30/40 years ago. Had a lot more about it - passion, soul, whatever. Even at my Forest Hall primary school, there were Newcastle fans mixing with Man U and Liverpool glory hunting fans, but there was still that deep rooted football tribalism. Arguments about who is better, tops in the playground. It all looks gone now.
id , rather be golfing nowadays . Sad but i get more enjoyment ,as i do not drink. holidays , work and golf , football gone for me ,its ****e .
Can you not use Free-Dor’s real name on here please. And he would like you to know its prawn sandwiches - not burgers and chips.
In fairness the league hasn't been that boring other than this season. Most teams that won the league the last few seasons haven't been as dominant as City and, until Arsenal fully came to the party for a number of years, Manure won it nearly every year as I was growing up due to buying the best players of those around them. Back then though it was pretty much us, Liverpool and them up top. Possibly why we didn't find it as disheartening. The same problem of teams outspending others has existed for ****ing ages and nobody was moaning when Blackburn bought the league (probably because they ****ed up a couple of seasons later) or when we bought Shearer. Also, I've never been massively arsed to watch any team that isn't NUFC or directly affecting us so it's not disillusion for me. The biggest thing levelled is players get paid astronomical money to kick a ball around, and they're no longer working class heroes. But this is the same argument I was hearing as a kid in 1998.
Agree. If we were competing with the top clubs we wouldn’t be moaning. All it takes is a wealthy owner and we could be back up there. After all City were **** before they discovered oil under the Etihad.
The gap is big now though, and when you have the best team playing full strength , in ****ty cups . well it gets tougher . Sky for me are killing a lot of sports .. Not a fan of the darts anymore .( its a fooking show now ). Liked it better when, the players were half pissed and had tab ash all over the oche., at least it had its own unique character. same with boxing . All you want to do is ,just watch the damm fight . Instead you just get stupid replays on a big screen . and the crowd singing sweet fooking caroline . Dear me . All a big hype for nowt . football is no different . With a hyped up matches , loads of bullshit pre match shows . You can tell its there for a wider audience now .that is for sure .
Currently reading Bill Shankly's autobiography and recently finished Sir Matt's. Characters from a lost time but Shankly's opinions make you hark back to a time when players played for the supporters and when at least there was some equality. I'm not asking for leg breaking tackles, or hooliganism on the terraces. But come on - Football is about scoring goals and attacking play. It's about physical duels and standing in the rain/ snow on a cold Tuesday night and making some noise.
Exactly. It's about going to a game, being optimistic and not giving a **** about losing as long as you saw your team having a go.
