http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...al-with-mediocre-foreign-players-9338666.html No, just no. DTLW
Absolutely NO..! It is using League One, Two and the Conference as a plaything for bigger clubs. NO..! ****ing NO..!
The intentions are correct, but they've gone about it in the wrong way. Southampton wont participate in the league I very much doubt
I don't like this idea at all. Will it mean that the promoted clubs from the conference go into League '3' now?
Needs to be looked at in detail with an open mind...then vote no. Dyke does make the point that teams should look outside their own interests, but that will be hard to do as most managers are foreign as well. Les Reed has already called it stupid, so he isn't sitting on the fence. Should make it harder for non-EU players to get in...for example we brought in Tadanari on the 'special talent' clause and he hardly played (exactly the point Dyke was making). Mayuka as well. Give SFC vast sums of FA money...we'll produce an England squad.
Also because these 'B' teams can't get promoted to the Championship, imagine a situation where the entire top 6 in League One is made up of 'B' teams, so promotion will be given to people in mid table. It is madness!
Or the whole of league one is full of B teams apart from the bottom 4, so the team that gets relegated gets promoted.
On a positive note: they are trying to find more competitive playing time for young, home-grown players with the aim to improve local players. On a negative note: the people coming up with these ideas (good intentioned or not) are running the highest organization that is controlling our game.
This idea really is laughable. Ok, it may have been suggested with good intentions, but it is only beneficial to Premier League Clubs, supposedly, and not the football league at all.
...and here is our own Les Reed's view:
It is insulting to non-league clubs...they exist in their own right and deserve their own leagues where they are all on a level playing field (though not always literally level ). Imagine the situation where the top 3 clubs in League 1 were B teams and the 4th team go up in their place...has ruined the competition for them. I wouldn't be surprised if there are quite a few injuries as players in other teams show those Fancy-Dans a thing or two.
Or as Beefy says, teams in the bottom half could go up. Incredible suggestion really. Total disregard for the 'smaller' clubs in the Football League. And, you can't really argue with Les Reed. How are these players going to be able to improve to the highest level, when they are playing in a league just above the conference.
People often say that it works in Spain so why not here, but our lower leagues are well supported which isn't always the case in some countries. Look at the Championship which is something like the 4th (?) best attended league in Europe (not sure of actual position but it is very high). As I said above, this is insulting to lower league/non league clubs....they don't exist to service the EPL and England.
Another thing, what happens when teams get promoted and relegated to and from the Prem? Do the new Prem teams B teams get placed in the B league? This idea is a complete **** up.
