1987 ! Was that the one nil victory { Percy's Goal } that kept us in Div 3 at Bolton Wanderers expense under Mr Gould's tenure ? I was at that game but can't quite remember the year although very much remember Somerton Park looking very dilapidated and sinking well within it's deaths throes.

The referee for this game is Graham Salisbury. He was last in charge of our game this season at home when we lost 2-1 vs Stevenage http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34840260 He was last in charge of a Newport game this season at away at Dag & Red in a bore 0-0 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34230154 He was also in charge of a Newport game last season away to Stevenage which ended 2-1 to Stevenage. He sent off Newports Zebroski (ex-gas player) in this game.
Let's hope he takes pity on the away team for having to play on a surface akin to the Baseball ground back in the mid seventies !
ALEX RODMAN -'WE ALWAYS FANCY OURSELVES AT HOME' The winger looks back on Tuesday night's draw against Hartlepool United. The Exiles followed up Saturday's 3-0 victory over Portsmouth with a 0-0 draw at home to Hartlepool United. With few chances throughout the game. Alex Rodman told the press that a draw was a fair result. "A point is always good in the position that we are in," said the winger. "We didn't get beat, which was important and we picked up another clean sheet and now we can look ahead to Saturday." "We always fancy ourselves at home, in fact we always fancy ourselves heading into any game we play in, but it was tough out there on Tuesday night." "Both teams had a couple of chances on the night, but I think a draw was a fair result." After a recent positive run of form at home, the midfielder revealed that he enjoys playing in front of the lively home crowd and praised the squad's ability to grind out results at home. "I enjoy playing at home and I like the atmosphere at Rodney Parade." "We don't want to make the pitch an excuse, because it is the same for both teams." "We certainly aren't a long-ball team and we do like to get the ball down and play some good football, which is sometimes easier on pitches where there is more grass on the field, but we have been grinding out performances at home and have been picking up some good results in recent weeks." After Tuesday night's game, local rivals Bristol Rovers are next up a Rodney Parade this coming Saturday. The winger revealed he is looking forward to playing a part in the derby, after a good result against Rovers earlier in the season. "We had a really good result at Bristol Rovers earlier in the season and hopefully we can have a big crowd here at Rodney Parade for Saturday's game." "We will certainly approach the game full of confidence and the game gives us the opportunity to pick up another three points that will take us closer to our goal of safety." "I think Warren, Toddy and Flynny are doing a great job and that is being shown by some fantastic results on the pitch and that bodes really well for next season."
I've gone for the 0-0 - if we keep Boden quiet we'll be doing well but they've also been good defensively of late except the Barnet game. Certainly won't be easy.
score draw for me...but like captain said, really need to keep this run of wins going! so I hope im wrong.
As we have the early kick off on Saturday, if we win by 3 or more goals, we go 3rd, which will create pressure on the teams kicking off at 3pm.
All the facts you need, ahead of Saturday's game against Bristol Rovers at Rodney Parade. (Newport Perspective) Looking at the visitors Bristol Rovers have had an extremely good season so far and have a very good opportunity to challenge for one of the automatic promotion places, which they are currently only three points outside. With ten games to go Rovers still have to play four out of the bottom five teams in the league and whilst there are no easy games in the division, they will be hoping to pick up maximum points and overtake Plymouth into one of the three automatic promotion spaces into League 1. Matty Taylor is the one to watch with 19 goals in the season so far, more than double the tally of Rory Gaffney, the clubs second highest scorer who only has seven. After beating Wycombe earlier that week the victory for County meant that they lifted themselves out of the relegation zone at the expense of Dagenham and Redbridge and was the second game in a run of ten unbeaten for the Exiles. Last time out County played the last of their games in hand following the postponements in January when Hartlepool United visited Rodney Parade with both sides looking for a win to further increase the gap between themselves and the bottom two. It was a relatively unexciting game that finished 0-0 but the point meant that Newport lifted themselves about Morecambe in the table and are now up to 17th, 14 points clear of the relegation zone with 30 left to play for. The Man in charge Graham Salisbury is the man in charge for this fixture with his assistants Antony Coggins and Justin Amey. The fourth official is Andrew Fox. Salisbury has been in the middle for one Newport game already this season, the 0-0 draw away at Dagenham and Redbridge in September. He sent off Chris Zebroski last season when Newport lost 2-1 to Stevenage and in the 2013/14 season County beat York City by three goals to nil which Salisbury also took charge of. So far this season he has refereed 29 games handing out 97 yellow cards and 6 red cards.
