I am not talking about Brexit here but the insulting farce that the Eurovision song contest has become since I left the U.K. in 1975. In fairness I haven't watched it since my departure and realize that time and technology have moved on and yet I couldn't get over the obvious voting blocks that never gave a second look to a fairly acceptable song from my land of birth. Is there anyone out there who can truly say that our song was the absolute worst because if there is then clearly they switched off when some of the other European countries performed their absolute rubbish? Greece voted for Cyprus and vice versa followed by the Balkans doing much the same for their neighbours and friends whilst the U.K. had to sit back and find out that in all of Europe only 3 people voted for their entry. Whatever happened to the days when we won with some of the classic rubbish songs back in the day when we were high up the heap and begrudgingly respected? Perhaps the time is nigh to tell the organizers to shove their proverbial contest up their backsides and offer a replacement spot to some other European country like the United States of America or Brazil. What a load of bollocks.
The Eurovision is all political. The UK always struggles when the UK has done something that Europe didn't like. Im glad we didn't win it. If we win it then we have to host it the following season. Its very expensive for the competition to be organised and the BBC would cut services to afford it or increase prices to cover it. That's why we always put out crap songs because we don't want to win it. But we won't ever win it now as Europe hates us more than ever due to Brexit. Good thing is though, if Europe hates us that much, maybe Brexit is the best thing for us I wonder how many pro EU Brits who loves the Eurovision now hates the EU because of the Eurovision result, I bet there is at least 1 person
It makes you wonder what the motives are behind the obvious screen door but who gives a rat's arse. Good luck in that Brexit thing???/
I don’t give a flying fk about Eurovision - although I feel sorry for anyone who comes last in a very public competition - but someone has to. Hopefully he will not take it personally and will get on with his musical career. I don’t know why we even participate in the farce.
I'm not even sure what the point of it is any more. It's not a talent competition. What actually does it do?
Madonna sang (tried to I suppose) and she’s a Yank. When I looked at the points board USA didn’t get one point so we wasn’t last.
