As desperate as I am for City to go up it has to be said that the EPL is boring. On radio 5 the presenter (talking about the Prem) said; "There are still plenty of twists and turns."...There aren't. They still have 4 or 5 games to play and the only important issues to be resolved are whether Wigan will swap places with Villa for the drop, and if Spurs can break into the top 4. Barring the tepid pursuit of a place in a third rate European competition everything else has been resolved for a while and most of the teams have had very little to play for. However the Press and Media continue to hype the Prem because they have a vested interest in the 'big bucks league.' This hype requires the huge PR machine to pay minimum attention to what is probably the most exciting league in the world ie. The Championship. It is important that Murdoch's millions aren't wasted on a competition that pales by comparison to a league where (with only two games left) only the top and bottom positions have been decided. In the Championship there are still only 4 teams that can't be either relegated or promoted and as we know too well, every game is still being faught tooth and nail. Promotion to the Premiership is necessary mainly for financial reasons, but if City can go up I for one will miss the vastly superior competition we're now in.
OK position 1 was decided long ago. a bit like cardiff so both divisions are kinda the same. The other positions are open.. 2,3,4 and europa cup place............ it is more open than any other league in Europe, spanish? thats a 2 horse race, Itals? another 2 horse race.
That still only really boils down to whether or not Spurs break into the top 4. Also; Can a mod delete or merge the duplicate thread. Thanks.
I agree with you Craig. But it's a sport, and you can only play to win. In football,if you win you'll be promoted,so what can you do ?
Totally with you. My Reading FC friends down here are not too disheartened about likely relegation due to the that next season there are more games for them, they will win more games and it is just so much more competitive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm dying for City to go up, but it's mainly for non-footballing reasons like the long term security the EPL money brings, the prestige and the guarded recognition we'll force out of the London-centric Press and Media. Being on MOTD won't be bad either I suppose.
