Sad news today. I have to say that I'm a little bit more upset about this than I thought I might be. My thoughts are with the Royal Family, the Household Staff, and her friends. In my estimation there have been few, if any, better servants to the country and certainly not in the past fifty years. I'm not sure the country as a whole is in the best position to deal with this now. Tonight I am quite sad. That is enough. Thank you for your Service, Ma'am.
The end of an era....... So sad.... She was such a great servant of our Country and Commonwealth........
Thanks for starting this thread Fez. I don't think I can add to what has already been said. May you rest well your majesty, you have earned it.
Somebody reminded me of the words that Queen Elizabeth II spoke following the 9/11 bombing in US “Nothing that can be said can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments. Grief is the price we pay for love.” this is so true about how I (and I guess many more) feel right now Rest evermore in peace alongside the love of your life Your Majesty
Even on the news here last night (Thurs) there was a 20 minute slot for her from the off. I guess I underestimated her reach.
Charles passed his first test today with flying colours Instead of driving into Buck House he got out of the car and greeted everyone who had waited outside, shook hands with everyone he could and even got kisses and flowers from a couple of the women His mum taught him well
A downside to the sad affair - and a lesson in how not to run a business. Center Parcs have announced that their five UK holiday sites will be closed on Monday - and they have told holidaymakers that they have to leave at 10:00am for 24 hours... https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/holidaymakers-slam-right-mess-center-25006440
Seems harsh indeed . Sure they can carry on after the funeral has ended with activities and events ? Seen some supermarkets are closing so staff can watch which is a nice touch .
Comedy gold if it weren't so damned tragic. Who do they think they are? One of my mates and a fellow Hornet works for them up in Nottinghamshire... I must get his opinion!
