...handing in my season ticket come May. The will to renew and continue to trudge up and down the M11/A11 has left me.
Money plays an issue, but it's more the lack of entertainment on the pitch that's made the decision a little easier. 18 months under Hughton hasn't seen the team progress - even though we have brought in a better quality of player - and the brand of football is difficult to watch. Instead the plan is to become a super member and attend random games as and when tickets and time permit.

It's tinged with emotion as the past six seasons have been a rollercoaster in the Upper Barclay.

Can't say I blame you with the added cost of travelling factored in. I'm lucky in that I can bike to games, so don't have the travel costs and time to add in and see it as not just going to watch a game of football, but a chance to catch up with friends for a few beers and a chat before/after the match.

One or two of the fans who sit near me are contemplating whether or not to renew and cost as well as lack of endeavour on the pitch are behind their decision.

Well, surely if (or when) it gets to the stage where poor tactics and performances are affecting attendances, the board will have to take steps.
Simply freezing prices, I feel, will no longer suffice.
If we continue to stumble from game to game (which is fairly likely a) under Hughton and b) because of where we are in the big scheme of things - i.e not being able to bring in an Aguero type player, then they may have to reduce S/T prices to avoid gates of circa 20K <yikes>

I feel for you, Jammis. I had one for years and suffered at the hands of Rioch, Hamilton etc and it is indeed a wrench when you eventually have to say to yourself 'enough is enough'

I have decided to try one more season, after 20+ as season ticket holder.

It will indeed be a wrench,if and when I decide enough is enough.

There are lots around me who are undecided.

Sad to hear this mate, but totally understandable - particularly as everyone I speak to nowadays is completely skint with many struggling to make ends meet despite this marvellous "recovery" our economy it supposedly going through.

I imagine a lot of people are having to make this decision regardless of the quality of the football on offer, though admittedly with so many games being so drab and dreary to watch I guess the decision is made just that bit easier.

It shouldn't be a problem though... I thought you had a waiting list of 1,000s wanting to take up season tickets! <whistle>

We certainly have, somewhere in the region of two and a half thousand! That's about your average gate isn't it JWM?

Whilst the football wasn't great last night in thoroughly enjoyed myself. I had to give up my season ticket in 2009 when I went to uni, the 450 mile round trip isn't really viable. You do really miss it.

Sadly living (with major family commitments) in Leicestershire and not having late ticket availability easily attainable as in the olden days, my following is firmly Final Score Red Button / 5 Live and occasionally BT Sport and so my overheads are low. It is a shame to hear your story Jammis but it is a big commitment financially and if you are not getting the entertainment value then it makes sense. Not going to CR will not make you any less passionate though.

This "recovery" is fueled virtually entirely by foreign investment in the London property market causing house prices to spiral. Very little evidence otherwise.

So London property prices are the reason for the creation of over 1.5 Million private sector jobs, an economy that will grow by 3% this year and the reduction in inflation to 2% for the first time in a decade. <doh>

1.5 million lowish paid jobs and the 3% has yet to be achieved. That is no more than a guess at this point and could easily be around 1% particularly as there are concerns about the growing world economies already!

Don't give me that rubbish about lowest inflation for a decade, which index is that based on exactly? It certainly can't include the cost of living which has been rocketing up for the past few years, as with house prices.

I don't believe a single statistic the government feeds us - and I should know, I am employed as an analyst to provide statistics for a government body!

    (sorry, I just couldn't resist could I ;))

I can see your reasons, Jammis, and as an exile now I can only say that there is still a lot to get out of being a City supporter when you can't get to many matches. As for gates going down to 20,000, I can't see that happening any time soon.

Its a strange situation - I live in Lincolnshire and because of that I have never had a season ticket although try and get to as many games as possible. Over the last few years I have been jealous of those living in Norwich who can get to games easily but that has changed over the last year or so. I try and watch games through streams and after each game think that I am glad i didnt make the 4 hr+ round trip to watch us play. Disapointing but I dont look for tickets like I have done before so I can see why anyone who travels far for every home game would stop their season ticket.
