    Unlike many previous incumbents, Ellis Short did not see his takeover as the culmination of a lifelong dream to run his local club, for him this is just another business deal that is currently not going to plan.

    His decisions will not be distracted by emotion and he is faced with 2 options;

    1. Take whatever action is necessary to protect Premiership status regardless of the entertainment value, even if that means a Pulis type manager gets the job, with a view to reassessing next summer.

    or

    2. Take a longer term view, by appointing a continental style coach who will shoehorn into the existing setup, deliver the free flowing football that fans now expect and stick with him, even if our future may include another trip to the Championship.

    This is probably the most important decision he has faced in his 5 year tenure and he knows he can't afford to get it wrong, so I for one am pleased that he is taking his time with this appointment, because at least we know (or hope) he has a plan and the name of the new man will surely tell us which route he has chosen.

    Several 'quick-fix' candidates are already available, yet Short is still deliberating and for that reason alone, I believe he may produce a shock when the new manager/coach is announced, with a name that is not even in the betting at the moment.

    option 2 all day long. Ellis will have plowed millions restructuring the club, why throw all that money down the drain of the back of a 5 game nightmare. I'm cling on to this and hoping we don't end up with a Pulis. Stick to plan A, the long term plan, it hasn't had chance to fail yet.

    i keep hoping he may be trying to lure somebody away from another club, none of the lowest odds managers are in employment except Yakin.

    Time will tell i guess, gotta feeling we may find out today

    I've got a feeling that it will be someone out of the blue, someone none of us had even contemplated, I just hope it's sooner rather than later. Probably Monday when the dust settles after the Man Utd fixture.
