I am starting to think that Laudrup doesnt have enough faith in Bony, if he did the lad would have started against Arsenal. But this is not really what this thread is about, its about wanting a dynamic midfield. Often yelled at; De Guzman and Shelvey are perfect examples, they are box to box midfielders weilding lots in their arsenal, but none of them being really world class. Ki is a perfect example of not being Laudrups prefered folks .. he is static, a good football player but static .. not something that would have bothered Brandon.

A dynamic midfield with lots of interchanging midfielders looks fantastic when it works, but when the crap hits the fan ... we all scream for something else, be it Bony ... or whatever.

Do we have a manager which is capable of keeping us in the current division given his philosphy? .. YES! Do we have a manager which capable of achieving an european spot every year? NO! ... is the manager to blaim? ...YES AND NO!!

The thing is, you can do a Mourinho and be extremely successfull, every man behind the ball and workrate has to be high ... scrape a 1-0 win and f... football, we are here to win, or you can do a Laudrup, lets be dynamic and believe we can defend without loosing our attacking efficiency, that works ... sometimes. Its being defensive with two different plans, but in the end Mourinhos is probably more efficient, he usually is cynical enough to choose the right players ...... thats to be seen yet with the current Chelsea squad though

But Laudrup clearly seems to prefer more dynamic players, De Guzman, Dyer, Shelvey and defenders who can cut through the midfield like Chico. We dont have world class players however, they are good ... but not worldclass and the tendency to overrate your ability is very much a mistake in the mentality of such players, lets do the pass which is almost impossible ... I can make it. They actually can when they are on top, but when not ... then things either stall or start looking silly.

At Swansea we cant have it all, sorry, we cant. I am the Laudrup type and the more dynamic coach, I wouldnt have made much difference. Remember that our fullbacks have a full go ... that means that we actually play a 2-6-2 at times, that leaves us very vulnerable to counters ... and sometimes it will look good, it will look amazing. At other times we will loose badly.

Football is a strange thing ... and there are as many football managers as there are fans in any country.

    Hugs to ya all.

laudrup is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet and i have been fortunate to shake his hand, there was nobody better at football than him or there is anyone better in todays football imho......He is a fairly good manager but not the best we have had at swansea and still has a lot to learn about managing a top division club, He hates failure and it puts him into a panic that leads to wrong decisions, I have seen this in managers before. He gets about 75% decisions correct and if we lose then its usually because the other team played better or our players had an off day, But when he gets things wrong he really gets it wrong and when we lose a match then then he should hold his hands up and be counted.....All i hope is he learns from his mistakes and stop coming out with poor excuses in the press as i would rather not hear his excuses or any of the players excuses......they don't wash...

Daniel, good post but I do take issue with you over one thing. De Guzman dynamic???? No, No ,no, mate, not in a million years!! Is he talented? Definitely. His passing can be superb at times but his energy overall is questionable and his tackling often non-existent, eg the build up to Arsenal's winning goal against us.

Teams at our level in the Premier League need each and every player operating somewhere near their best. All too often JdG isn't. It's not a problem with his ability, imo, more a question of his attitude - no dirty work for him, thank you very much.

In warfare terms, who would I like by my side in the trenches? Certainly the likes of Michu, Chico and a few others but I wouldn't much fancy my chances with de Guzman guarding my back. Too likely to go missing when it matters. This might seem harsh on a player who does have ability but, for me, nothing like enough dog. Yes, when things are going well and we are in charge, he does look like the aforesaid canine's testicles but, when the going gets tough, JdG gets going...... the other way. Now, if we had a Ferrie Bodde doppelganger in midfield.......
