If last night's attendance [estimated at below 7,000] proved anything, it is that Charlton will not be "growing a new fan base" whilst these two negligent idiots remain. Nor are crowds "going up" this season, as Seriously Deluded bizarrely continues to claim on the Apologist site. In truth, if Charlton had a committed owner and competent CEO [as opposed to a window dressing, under qualified floozy], we could reasonably expect attendances of around 15,000 this season if we mounted a credible promotion challenge. The fact that we are struggling to get even half that figure, whilst still in a play off spot, speaks far more eloquently than the latest 500 word ramble of bullshit from Seriously Apologetic ever will. Until these 2 idiots go, anything else to coin a phrase, is "background noise".
Spot on The fact that RD apologists show no concern about this important point, also shows that they have no real ambition for the Club.
I would say the actual attendance was lower than 6,000 last night. The atmosphere was like a first round league cup game. And the closed blocks of seats have been abandoned to neglect and decay. The RD regime never cared about falling attendances. This shows more plainly than anything else that they don't care about our pride or our self respect as a Club. Any Charlton fan visiting the Valley for the first time in two or three seasons will be shocked and saddened by the state of things. I understand one ITTV apologist claimed recently that attendances were up to nearly what they used to be when we were last in the 3rd division under Parkinson and Powell. That is a pitiful fantasy.
Bad news for Reams in today’s Budget. The Chancellor has announced a sharp rise in tax on low quality extra strong cider.
They've convinced themselves that Roland doesn't even look at the attendance figures because he doesn't care. And they still keep ranting on about the protestors, even though there aren't any any more. Like a contest to see who is the most loyal to their Dear Leader.
20 years back at the Valley: Average home crowds of about 15,000 even after accounting for ST holders who didn't attend every game. Lean times for the Club on the money front, not perhaps the greatest football ever seen on the pitch, but a return to the Championship bringing some hope for a better future. 25 years back at the Valley: Going into our fifth year under the richest owner in the Club's history. After seven changes of manager, 10 wins from 17 games in the 3rd division has Charlton sitting 4th in the table, yet even with ST prices cut average home crowds are still well under 10,000 and even lower than the previous disappointing season. The smug and indifferent "we know best, you'll just have to accept it" attitude of the incoming administration in 2014 and its refusal to acknowledge that it knew nothing about English football has led us to where we are now. A belated charm offensive of gimmicks and fake enthusiasm for the close relationship between Club and fans which the regime itself destroyed is not going to fool anybody. Indifference and insincerity are the hallmarks of the current regime, and every time she opens her mouth, our CEO reveals by her inept comments that she does not remotely understand how to relate to her customers, or even care that much.
Just had a read through this forum. Page after page of ranting about fans with a different point of view from theirs. And they seem to think the pro-Roland faction is in the majority.
They are so disconnected from reality on that forum it is pitiable. The Pro-Roland faction is only in the majority on ITTV, and only because most of them have drifted there from other forums. A little group of believers holed up in their bunker, dreaming of imaginary armies and fantasy scenarios. First Roland was not going to sell. He was the Putin-like Iron Man who defeated the pygmy protesters. It was the match-disrupting vinegars who had actually driven decent Charlton fans out of the Valley - not RD and KM. Now we hear from the man himself that Roland is tired of football, and has been since he sold Standard Liege two years ago. And there has been a 100% positive atmosphere at the Valley all this season - yet home attendances are DOWN. Where are these Pro-Roland Charlton fans who only ever wanted to "watch the football" and were driven away by the horrible protesters? 20,000 seats are empty. Where is the Man of Steel? The all-conquering President? He is ready to sell the Club. Now the apologists are reduced to dreaming that maybe Katrien Meire will be allowed to stay on by the new owners because she supposedly has such a good relationship with Karl Robinson. That is beyond pitiable. It is deluded.
Yes, it is a stomach-turning prospect to most Charlton fans. Admittedly it was suggested by Survivor, who is nothing more than a poor wum. But it's the kind of thing that apologists dream of. They would do well to think about the future of CAFC after Roland, which is surely not far away now. But instead they merely retreat ever further into their fantasy world.
Yes, but he'll put those views aside when it suits him, and anyway the proper fans he likes to rant about, were saying what was needed long before him.
Reams changes the weather? Now that is impressive. Unless it just changes in tune with his involuntary mood swings, which would not be such a good thing.
