Tell Morag to have a word with Winston Wolfe. The reason that people should go on comparison sites is because his car insurance offer is 22 per cent higher than the renewal quote – no matter what shirt you wear. <doh>

Timothy Murphy needs to find a less congested route to an insurance quote as it was 2 per cent above the renewal offer. <doh>

Then go and tell Aleksandr and Sergei that the best they could manage was fractionally higher than the renewal quote. <doh>

    Simples.

Just popped-in for a personal comment on this vexed subject.

Tourists are getting to be a ****ing menace in Munich too. My doctor is quite near the city-centre Marienplatz, and only yesterday had to fight my way through groups of these people jamming the sidewalk while a guide jabbered away. I have found that the Japanese are certainly the worst of all, followed by the Chinese and Americans. I can imagine what the guide said, in the language being used for his or her Group, after I shoved my way through with comments in every rude word in the Bavarian dialect I could think of, probably, "Don't worry, just another miserable old local"...………<laugh>

"Over-tourism is a worldwide issue: Peru’s Machu Picchu. Scotland’s scenic Isle of Skye. Gion, Kyoto’s geisha district. Amsterdam’s Red Light district. The canals of Venice. California’s “super-blooming” poppy fields. The Louvre, which reopened late last month after a brief closure when employees walked out because of overwhelming crowds. Thailand’s Maya Bay, now closed to tourists indefinitely.

All these places have been inundated by more tourists than they can handle, both domestic and foreign. Visitors are overcrowding, littering, acting drunk and lewd, causing environmental damage, failing to respect local culture, inappropriately touching or taking things and driving up rents."

I suppose the question we all should be asking is. Was Carrie looking for something in particular, an if so, what?

Looks like there's a massive heat wave heading towards Western Europe. Reports suggest that temps could possibly reach as high as 40c, which could raise serious health issues, especially with the aged. A climate scientist from Potsdam University fears that a repeat of the 2003 heat wave that claimed an estimated 70,000 lives. Fingers cross that the populace fares much better this time around.

I‘m at the mother-in-laws in West Germany (close to the Dutch border) and we had 38 centigrade yesterday. Heading back to Berlin this afternoon and the heat wave will be traveling with us. Really hope the air-con on the train is working.

They were talking about possibly several days above 40c in Spain too. Hope goes well, but it doesn't sound good.

You’ll know better than anyone mate, that you have to adapt to such conditions. Slow down, drink lots of water, no strenuous activity and limit your exposure to direct sunlight. As long as folk stick to that it should be fine.

I’m just glad I don’t live in Abu Dabis in south-west Iran. Waaaaaaay toasty <yikes>

In relation to the heat Oddy, we've experienced heaps of the stuff so we tend to muddle through it a bit better than most. I guess it's what people get used to. You guys have learned to deal with cold better than us. Over there, you'd be getting around in a short sleeved shirt and I'd be all rugged up. <laugh>

She's making better use of the seat than the person behind FFS. I would hazard a guess that this train was not "packed"

Sir David Attenborough went to Glastonbury to perform a set where he praised Festival goers for going plastic free.

It would appear, however, that those cheering him were being a little hypocritical, as evidenced by this photo of the aftermath at Worthy Farm:
