What did ' the hornets' ever do for us? The first time I took my Mum to the Alps (Mayrhofen) she got stung three times in one day by what, I assume, were three different wasps/hornets. A lady in the pharmacy was great and sold us ointment and medication which appeased the pain within thirty minutes.
I think I may have to visit the pharmacy tomorrow then. Because theses stings are really painful. I had to take some anti-allergy tablets to see if that helped. I then felt a bit queasy, went for a lie down and fell asleep, which was useful. Still a bit painful but nothing like it was. Not a nice experience
I'm very happy with this bet. Charlton have lost 17 players and brought 2 in. Bowyer as manager. Crowds gone from 18k to 6k. Chairman is detested and there's a poisonous atmosphere about the club. Newcastle we have seen this before with them. Ashley not backing them. Manager, players and fans are unhappy. Reports that the Newcastle players are now striking. They've already got very little quality. please log in to view this image
Lived out in the sticks (when I was home) when we first moved to Germany, wasps a real menace plus an assortment of flies and other bugs. Thank God never saw any hornets, they are very dangerous. Take care, and see a doctor if you start to feel even slightly rough. Need to have their nest tracked down (think the Fire Dept. do this as an extra service in a lot of places),
The pharmacy is about half way up the main street (as it is). The problem is Mayrhofen is a bitch to get to. Flight to Munchen fine, train journey to Innsbruck is extremely scenic then local train to Jenbach. You then have to catch a tourist steam choo-choo down to Mayrhofen! I suppose it would be easier to visit your local Boots or Lloyd's. Hope the discomfort is still easing. Yours. Herr Doktor Mengele!
Yes, thanks. I managed to find it but they were closed. Fortunately my daughter had some Apaisyl Après-piqûres which helped a lot. Feel fine now. Just a few itchy bumps left to treat
On your waste ? If you're going to crap in your own garden, you deserve all you get. Oddly enough, I've always imagined you as looking something like Walter Brennan. Maybe you was bit by a dead bee ?
Interesting that Rainer, always imagined you as looking a bit like Jacque Tati. I'm wide open here, but no, I do not look like S. Z. Sakall, not a bit.
Oh dear, the truth emerges. Still, it was a good story! "Men escape nursing home for Wacken? What really happened": https://www.dw.com/en/men-escape-nursing-home-for-wacken-what-really-happened/a-44994117
Not sure how this court case is going to go for Ben Stokes. So far it doesn’t look good for him. However I reckon if in 50 years time the Beeb decide to remake Steptoe and Son he’s got the Wilfred Bramble look absolutely nailed. I’m sure he’ll still be petulant and angry enough for the role too.
Good morning all; feeling remarkably chipper this cool and sunny Edinburgh morning. Nice quiet day planned. Unwanted t-shirt to be returned to the Hard Rock Cafe then a wander around a CD and DVD shop (Fopp) predominantly to check out the prices of some European 'cop/crime' shows. I will then catch an omnibus down to the foot of Leith Walk (fit o' the Walk) to get some food out of Lidl. Home, some ironing and vacuuming, then an afternoon of leisure chit-chatting to chums while listening to the wireless; heaven! Toodle pip!
Hopefully the current pilot‘s strike will open people‘s eyes to the almost criminal treatment of its staff by Ryanair. The whole concept of low-cost carriers is based on squeezing every last cent out of operations and it is no wonder staff have cried „enough“. I will never fly with the buggers again, I dont care how cheap they are. Michael - Stick your scratchcards where the sun don’t shine.
Never flown with Ryanair; are they that much less expensive than say Easyjet once you take into consideration the total add ons, increased hold baggage charges and likely transport costs from the boondocks to a city/town centre for your holiday or onward travel? Only seem to use Easyjet and Eurowngs (Germanwings) these days.
