What a very sad and dreadful story. Sure, the lady has made mistakes in her life, but who hasn't? She certainly did not deserve this sort of punishment. Happy to read that a charity organisation has put her up in a hotel until permanent accommodation can be arranged for her:

Swimmer, 64, who represented Great Britain is homeless (msn.com)

Do explain the logic of that statement to the rest of us because it reads like a non sequitur – no facts in evidence, just your fantasy world musings.

An indeterminate number of people have died FROM Covid-19 because the way that the statistics have been compiled uses circumstantial evidence and conjecture rather than scientific facts.

We are prepared to accept that the Office for National Statistics ought to be able to simply count the death certificates that are registered, so the base number of deaths by all causes ought to be accurate.

The excess death figures show that more people have died in the last year than the previous five year rolling average. We can make an assumption that a good percentage of them will be Covid-19 related but also a percentage of them will be deaths as a result of untreated non-plague conditions; an inconvenient truth about the failure of an unreformed NHS that is not fit for purpose.

Of course, the other elephant in the statistical room is that many of the elderly people whose deaths have been attributed to the plague would have died anyway of some other cause (or indeed did).

Death figures are not the government’s responsibility, but when have you ever let the facts get in the way of a good old rant?

The Office for National Statistics is a non-governmental organisation that reports to Parliament. I have lost count of how many times I have pointed that out to those of you living on the fact-free Left. Facts are always the worst enemy of the Left, especially the one about them collectively being a minority. Clearly it is impossible to educate dyed in the wool hard Lefties.

More facts not in evidence. If there is a national disgrace it is that you are still allowed to post nonsense unchallenged.

Now what on earth caused the excess mortality in 1940 compared to the previous five years? There is nothing much to dispute about bombs or bullets as causes of death with clearly visible evidence.

I have not seen any reports from the ONS recording how many people went into NHS hospitals without Covid-19 but caught the plague and died. There was a famous 100 year old knight of the realm a few weeks ago.

Obviously your claim that flu has been wiped out because of mask wearing can be easily verified by one of your Facebook doctors, who know more about everything than the combined membership of SAGE. People that died of influenza have probably all been recorded as plague victims.

The death rate per million in Germany is more than twice that of Denmark, six times that of Finland, seven times that of Norway and nearly ten times that of Iceland. Would you like some more meaningless statistics? You are only interested in your continuing “blame the Tory government” narrative. If there is a German Not606, you could post on it about how badly Germany has done compared to Denmark, but you probably idolise Mutti like Wee Jimmy McKrankie.

What you actually mean by “performing badly compared to other western countries” is “compared to other western countries of your choosing and by any statistical extrapolation that shows the UK in bad light”.

Deaths per million – the UK figure based upon completely inaccurate counting – shows us at a level comparable with France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Sweden.

Not much that can be done about the dead but would you like to compare the vaccination rates of any of those countries with almost a third of UK adults having had at least one vaccination jab whilst less than ten per cent of any EU member state has had one?

err , govt policy in a pandemic is govt responsibility, this either leads to more or less deaths , i know it’s a hard concept for you to understand other people , but even you will have trouble denying that .
Govt does say how things are categorised though , deaths are only counted in hospitals and care homes at a later date , those who die in their own homes aren’t included , lessening the figures .......also the 28 day period excludes those who die after that period , so parameters that are used , affect the numbers game ........mr fact <doh>

    [

There were 697,000 deaths in the UK in 2020, some 85,000 more than usual based on the average of the last 5 years.
Not only that, the 14% increase is the largest rise in excess deaths for more than 75 years.

those of us living in the real world will not be surprised by these figures as we have been living during a global pandemic, and the decisions made by the UK government have resulted in the highest death rate from this virus in Europe.
Indeed in populations of comparable size the UK has the highest death rate in the world.

this is my interpretation of the excess death figures.
It will be interesting to see what you attribute their deaths to.

the term excess deaths was invented just as public scrutiny of the data showing nothing was out of the ordinary was growing

please log in to view this image

2020 was only 15th on the list of deaths per 100k for the last 30 years, the numbers despite being massively falsified still show nothing out of the ordinary, and as QM points out, all covid stats are effectively null and void due to inaccuracy of recording

it was never about a virus, enjoy your new bio passport

More total rubbish from fact free North West Wales...

“Death figures” are a statistical count. How many people die is as much the fault of the actions of stupid people as it is government policy. I know that you deny that the NHS caused 20,000 people to die in the care home system and blame that on the government because the NHS can do no wrong.

Why am I wasting my time trying to educate those who refuse to accept FACTS when they are told them, even if these come from a publicly verifiable source?

People who die in their own homes are counted in the ONS statistics – there is even a row on the table on the ONS website. I previously posted an example of the actual statistics from the ONS website from 15th January in response to some factually inaccurate post from North West Wales but ACTUAL FACTS have not stopped you regurgitating the same nonsense a month later. The statistics are compiled using internationally accepted norms not what Matt Hancock fancies using this week.

You come across as a conspiracy theory loser. When you got called up for your jab, I bet you wanted to see the clinicians’ Labour Party membership card before you would let them near you with a needle. Or was it the local Druid in North West Wales?

I do find conspiracy theorists quite amusing, even though you are actually very dangerous for society.
Hopsitals this winter have been packed with people in COVID only wards, and it is not just about the people who have died - many thousands of people have suffered and are suffering from long covid as well. These are not all old people.

Please start to face up to reality, can't be good for your health to live in a fantasy world.

Sarkozy sentenced to 3 years prison for corruption. However, 2 of the 3 years are suspended and the 1 year he can serve at home. Where's punishment in that?
