Presumably it just counts cards but that's not necessarily dirty. We've arguably been too nice during both of our PL stints. Red cards now are for silly reactions to being fouled often as not. Nowadays every penalty is a red card too.

Fouls/cards, same thing. The further back you go the more laughable the comparison is. This is why you get players falling all over the place now as you don't need much of a contact to get penalised.
