I always find it interesting to see how we are presented (usually ignored) in the news and there are plenty of times which show just how little some of the "football experts" know about our club, squad, etc. Sometimes it's pretty funny (like "Cinnamon Jackson") or confusing all the Bennetts and Barnetts. Often it can be seriously annoying and make think either do your research or just don't comment at all. Every now and again, though, I do find an article that simply puts it in a bit of perspective. Nothing special, but gives a different view point that stops me. Obviously a lot has been said on here about our recent loss to 'Boro and auto promotions. I was pretty confident we were going to get into the top two (which we did) and stay there (which we haven't). I was very disappointed with Friday's result, though obviously the season's not all over yet. I read this article this morning: http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/can-norwich-city-bounce-straight-back-to-the-premier-league/ Nothing special about it. It's actually pretty weak on detail. But I found it interesting that it is entirely positive about us since Neil came in. Not even a mention of the 'Boro game - it just simply sets out that our form has been excellent and we could get promoted. I'm not saying this attitude hasn't been on here (plenty of posters have emphasised we've still got a shot) but I was a bit taken aback by this article because that is really how we should be looking at it from where we were in January. Easier said than done, of course, as we're a bit more emotionally involved than this author
Whilst I think AN has done a fantastic job and we may well have missed the play offs altogether under Adams I don't think I would describe us as a mid table team after all we've hardly been out of the top 8 for nearly all the season. http://guardian.touch-line.com/?CTID=11&CPID=82&TEID=232&pStr=League_Pos&t=3 I guess the difference is under Adams we were challenging for a playoff place, under AN we have and still are challenging for a top 2 place.
I don't disagree with you canario Things were never as bad as people like to paint. I think, in part, that's the point - why does it have to be one extreme or the other? I don't think it's unreasonable to raise your expectations when we get promoted though.
Norwich have never been fashionable and never will be. The TV companies love it when it is any combination of the big 6 because it is reflected in generally higher audiences as those clubs have a far bigger and wider fan base. If the cup final say was between Norwich and say Burnley it would probably not even make the main evening news.
Another one that seems strange from our perspective I think: http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=398268 But shows how the outside world sees us playing!
