If This should happen, Scottish football would be screwed. Bad enough only two teams in Scotland that regularly challenge. but if Rangers go. Sorry but that would efectively **** Scottish football, not good at all. ................................................................................................................................................................. Rangers manager Ally McCoist's liquidation fear grows Rangers manager Ally McCoist admits the liquidation of the Glasgow club is an ever more likely prospect. The club's administrator has yet to name a preferred bidder, with working capital only in place to keep the club going until the end of the season. "I would have to say that looks more of a possibility now than it ever has," said McCoist after a 3-0 loss to Celtic about the chances of liquidation. "I don't know where we'll be in 24 hours, where we'll be in 48 hours." Continue reading the main story âI don't know in what shape or form we'll be back, but I can guarantee we will all be backâ Ally McCoist Rangers manager The Blue Knights consortium, which includes former Ibrox director Paul Murray and Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy, are up against American tycoon Bill Miller in the pursuit of taking control of Rangers. But neither party has yet submitted the unconditional bid that administrator Duff & Phelps think would be commercially acceptable to Rangers' creditors. With the season soon coming to an end, the prospect of either bidder achieving a company voluntary arrangement and keeping the club's history intact appears to be diminishing, making liquidation and an asset transfer to a new company a more likely outcome. Following defeat at Celtic Park, McCoist said: "We'd a big battle on our hands, but we've got a far, far, far bigger battle on our hands in the next few days, which is obviously more important in the grand scheme of things. "This is the really worrying and concerning issue; you can't organise pre-season training, you can't organise pre-season trips, you can't organise pre-season games, you don't know who your staff will be at the start of the season, you don't know what players you'll have. It's a shambles really. "It's our football club, it's our livelihoods, it's the livelihood of the players, the staff and it's the institution that our supporters have loved and come to watch and support for 140 years, that's the important thing." Use accessible player and disable flyout menusMcCoist believes his players would "need to be made of stone" not to have been affected by the club's off-field problems and said of the derby defeat: "It was a disappointing afternoon. "I'm certainly disappointed in the manner in which we lost the goals. "I'm sore. I'm hurting at the result, I'm gutted that we lost. "If it's any consolation to our support, everybody in that dressing-room to a man is really, really down. "But we'll be back. I don't know in what shape or form we'll be back, but I can guarantee we will all be back."
Rangers have always been my second team. How can such a massive club go to the wall? Can't see the SFA allowing it to happen TBH but what the **** do I know?
Billy. It just cant happen, otherwise its the death Knell for Scottish football, wont be alliowed to happen.
We as supporters wont allow it, and I dont follow SPL, although have soft spots for Gretna, Ayr Utd, and Queen of the South.
Don't be so sure Billy. 2 1/2 years back NZ was offered a game against Scotland & the sad Fcukers wanted a £350K match fee + costs !! What money they've got will be certainly not be parted with.
KIWI, take rangers out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,whats left? big big problem, wont be allowed to happen, if it does happen, here in England we call that " SUICIDE "
To true. It happens all around the world I'm affraid Bill. Point taken but Seaham Hall & a coach down is hardly 1st Class around the world & the Stanford Plazza or the like
I am not so sure. What kind of message would it send out if a club was allowed to wrack up debt of £100m+ and then simply just walk away from it and start again as if nothing has happened. I don't particularly want to see Rangers disappear and whatever happens I don't think they will but by paying players with money they didn't have for years now they have been effectively cheating. Stripping them of 10 points in a league where the top 2 are usually 20 points clear of the rest is no kind of punishment. If they were to be sent down to Div3 they would be back in the Prem in 3 years and in the meantime the money that would bring in to all of the lower league teams would keep them all going for years to come. The SPL would become even more boring for a few years but I do think that the SFA has to do something.
Am I alone in being completely unmoved if Rangers, Celtic, Pompey or any other club other than my own went to the wall? It's a full time job worrying about SAFC let alone another club.
They cheated, simple as that. From the mid-90s they were misusing EBTs to pay wages of players they wouldnt have been able to afford, on top of that they were just outspending their incomings and then not to pay your VAT bill, that was just asking for trouble. People seem to already be trying to make thr SFA a scapegoat but in reality the club was spending beyond its mean and gaining success for it, to the detriment of other clubs in the league. Call it what you want but thats cheating in my book and just because the club has a following I dont really see why that should grant them preferential treatement to any other business in this situation, like it or not clubs are quite simply just businesses
